[fossil-users] fossil integration into eclipse

2009-11-23 Thread Heinrich Huss
Hello all,

I wondering if there is somebody working on an eclipse plugin for
fossil?

Fossil is very good for my projects not based on Java. My Java
Projects where I generell use eclipse as a workbench do not integrate
smothly with fossil. After refactoring in eclipse ( which I do very
often) - a lot of files were moved, renamed and merged. In this
situation it is not easy to handle this later manually using fossil.
Does somebody had similar problems and can give me some hints, how to
solve this?

I think the best solution is to write a plugin for eclipse, where all
these actions (mv, rm, ..) where done using fossil commands. I do not
know, if the fuctionality given by fossil is rich enough to develop a
Eclipse pluging like one which exists for example for CVS.

Re: [fossil-users] fossil integration into eclipse

2009-11-24 Thread Heinrich Huss
If I rename or moved a file to a different location, then there is a
difference if I do a delete and add lateron or use a fossil mv
command. With the first the history of the file will be lost.

It is difficult to determine afterwards which files are really new and
which are renamed and what were their previous names.

Re: [fossil-users] How to merge a fork with binary files?

2009-12-15 Thread Heinrich Huss
Hi,

It seems there is something broken in fossil. I'm always getting this
error when I try to make a 'fossil update':

$ fossil update
Assertion failed: (pBlob)->xRealloc==blobReallocMalloc ||
(pBlob)->xRealloc==blobReallocStatic, file blob_.c, line 170

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual
way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information
$ fossil version
This is fossil version [2bb1d6469f] 2009-12-09 14:39:20 UTC

I do have binary files (icons, gifs, jpg) in my project. I think some of
these binary files were changed by me and somebody else.
Now I cannot make an update to get the latest changes from the repository.

Any hint's how I can handle this

Many Thanks
Hein

Nope, regular browsing like a few days ago... Cookies enabled, of

Some more clarification:

As I said, the anonymous login used to work until 2009-12-23 (both
from home without proxy and from work with proxy).

I fiddled around with anonymous login. As I said, after successful
anonymous login I am redirected to Fossil's Home Page (not logged
in).
If I click on 'Leaves' I get the message

Many hyperlinks are disabled.
Use anonymous login to enable hyperlinks.

So I click on above link which directs me to the login page stating
that I am indeed logged in as anonymous (You are currently logged
in

as anonymous).

The same applies to Tickets, either...

So if the initial login is from one IP and then the IP address

the login is invalidated.

I'm behind a firewall; internet access through proxy server farm,

my outside IP address (proxy server address) didn't change (same

Sorry I haven't read the last part of your mail. You have to extract

[fossil-users] Problems cloning Repository

2010-02-04 Thread Heinrich Huss
Hi,

I have a server where I have to run an older version of fossil (Fossil
version [0eb08b860c] 2009-09-16 21:29:18). This is part of the
distribution running there. I cannot distribute a newer version of
fossil to this server.

I build a Fossil repository on my local system and copied it with scp on
this server, changed the passwords of the users and removed the clone
right for user nobody.

After these changes I was able to login at the web interface. So far so
good.

But I was not able to clone with my local client (fossil version
[a918bdf56b] 2010-02-01 15:07:38 UTC)

I tried :
fossil clone http://hein:foob...@10.0.0.8:8082 swift.fossil --httptrace
fossil clone http://hein:*foob...@10.0.0.8:8082 swift.fossil --httptrace

In both cases I've got the following error:
HTTP RECEIVE:
error not\sauthorized\sto\sclone

If I used the latest fossil version for the server, erverything worked
as expected.

Any idea what is going on here. Where is my fault?

Thanks

Hein

User hein has those clone rights set explicitly.

User Hein thats me as administrator
user hein thats me as developer

I think there is a problem with the user password. The user is not
identified by the fossil server.

Pls note:
If I use the same repository with a latest build of fossil as server,
everything works fine. i.e user hein can clone.

It seems I'm running in the same problem. After recompile I'm not able

It looks like the sqite cannot open the database with write access.
Filepermissions are ok and I did a rebuild.

Any ideas?

Hi all,

I've only recently come across fossil, and really like the idea of
it for some of my personal projects at home, but I've run into a

I've installed it on my fileserver (the arm-powered WD WorldBook

file share and is appropriately backed up. I downloaded it from http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/optware/gumstix1151/cross/unstable/fossil-scm_20090916-1_arm.ipk
but is quite an old version:

This is fossil version [0eb08b860c] 2009-09-16 21:29:18 UTC

The version I have on my windows box is a current build.

I can create a new repository and start a server, then clone a
remote repo and sync the two successfully both on Windows and linux,
but not across the platforms. This is what I've done - hopefully
someone can tell me I've missed something:

On linux:

Re: [fossil-users] fossil on arm

2010-04-04 Thread Heinrich Huss
Hi,

I'm using a QNAP TS109Pro. I think it's a ARM7 based device.

You should try to get valid devel-tools. Issue an 'ipkg update' to get
the latest tools from the 'stable' trunk.

Hein

No header files from fossil.

Some of the gcc header files don't fit to my system. Nothing really important

Try to upgrade to a version newer than 20100331. This bug is fixed since

[fossil-users] howto see a difference between two project revisions

2010-09-19 Thread Heinrich Huss
 Hi,

I may have missed something obvious, but I cannot find a way to retrieve
the difference between two versions of a project.

fossil diff -R only show differences between files which had been
checked in in both versions but not the added or deleted files. fossil
changes does not have an option for a second revisions to compare to.

The only way I found was to check out both versions in different
directories and use an external diff tool (meld).

What have I missed?

Thanks a lot.

Regards
Hein

 Hi Richard,

forget everything. It was me, who was not able to see. :(

fossil diff --from ef7e35 | grep -i added
ADDEDmodel/const.php
ADDEDsmarty/templates/RegistrationPDF.tpl

So everything is fine. Works as you mentioned and thats fine with me.

Thanks

So, if a link pointed to a directory, but the directory was replaced
with a file, the link still works?

Thanks!

Strange not on my sytstem. A link to a directory remains a link to a
directory and a link to a file remains a link to a file.

Bothe cannot be swapped and i if try to access the one of the wron

It's Windows 7 Professional 64bit. I did these test as Adminitrator.

May be there are some settings which control this behavoiur.

[fossil-users] using fossil in parallel to cvs

2011-06-27 Thread Heinrich Huss
Hi,

in a project at customer side I'm forced using cvs for version control
as this is the project standard. So far so good. But I want to use
fossil for my project in parallel. I'm wonder if there exists some
environment variable as in GIT with 'GIT_DIR' & 'GIT_WORK_TREE' . These
variable allows separation of the source files from the scm spezific
files. I like to have a clean working directory without fossil files
(_FOSSIL_ & manifest) .

Is that possible?

Many Thanks
Hein

[fossil-users] Missing files in fossil ui

Hi,

02-Analysis/S&P/files/GISF_Entity_Ratings_Sample_File_RX3.txt
02-Analysis/S&P/files/GISF_Issue_Maturity_Sample_File_RX3.txt

fossil UI: only shows an empty folder and this:
*Files of check-in [**_496987c531_*
*]
in directory **_02-Analysis_*
*/**_S&P_*
*/files*

I assume the reason is the Ampersand in the file name.

It is not urgent as the files are in the repository, but what can I do
to see these files in the web gui.

Thanks

You can clone the fossil repository for test. With this repository it

why don't you setup a fossil server instance and let the clients communicate

Setting WAL mode on the database will help a lot. However, WAL might not work
on NFS. Are all server instances running on the same machine? If so, then you
might be able to get WAL to work. I suppose you could try.

Do this:

fossil rebuild -wal -pagesize 8192 REPO

Then see if that helps.

FWIW, the Fossil and SQLite repositories take a pretty heavy load without
problems and they are both running on the same 1/24th slice VM. They do both
use WAL. But they also both use a local disk, not NFS.

FYI, I think these are probably unnecessary failures, however I grant that is
may be tough to differentiate from real issues such as db not readable. I think
fossil could possibly do a couple things here:

I missed that part.

Probably the error then results from having a broken posix advisory lock
implementation on your NFS server (a very common scenario). The work-around is
to use dot-file locking instead.

export FOSSIL_VFS=unix-dotfile
fossil update

The danger here is that all users must be using the same VFS, or else they
won't agree on the locking protocol and they could collide with each other.

If you are absolutely certain that nobody else will be using the remote
repository at the same time, you can also do:

export FOSSIL_VFS=unix-none

to disable locking entirely.

Re: [fossil-users] How to limit "fossil diff" output to just names of the changed files?

2012-02-02 Thread Heinrich Huss

Why not using 'fossil change'?
Or am I missing the point?

Hein

What if you keep on with the fossil internal diff command, and run:
$ fossil diff --from xxx --to yyy | grep Index

That's what I'm using now that I needed this feature.

As a poor man's solution, I am using

$ fossil diff -i --from xx --to yy | egrep '^(DELETED|MISSING|ADDED|Index:)'

to catch all the changes. Of course, fossil labors heavily to produce
the actual changes which are then promptly discarded.
