About Me: Jared Jennings

2012-06-04 Thread Jared Jennings
Hello, my name is Jared Jennings and thanks for letting me join GNOME.

I have worked as a professional Information Technology consultant since I was
16. My career started when I joined a small Novell Platinum partner. I gained
my first certification before I turned 17 and was deeply rooted in NetWare,
GroupWise, ZENworks and various Linux server distributions.

About 6 years ago I started programming in Java and C#. It was at this point
that I became deeply interested in Tomboy and improving Open source
applications. I have always been a user and even helped a whole school switch
to Novell Linux Desktop. Deciding to help and become involved has been one of
the better decisions I have made.

I see Open source as enabling innovation, enabling education and encouraging an
attitude of improvement. Great things in history have happened because someone
said, “It doesn’t have to be this way”.

Today I am one of the Tomboy maintainers. I also started Tomboy-library[1],
which will encourage development on multiple devices and platforms. The library
will also address decoupling issues with the UI and Core. I’m also working on a
new Tomboy for OS X using MonoMac. This will be released as part of the GNOME
and Mono Love Hackfast in 2012. I also work for Computer Integrated Services
(CIS) as a Senior Technology Architect. Where I enjoy work with a great team
and various Identity and Access Management products.

US Members

2012-08-03 Thread Jared Jennings
I can't help but notice that it seems as if most or at least a lot of the
GNOME foundation members are from Europe.
Are there any members in the US, say around Missouri or Texas? I wouldn't
mind grabbing a drink together.

Maybe I'm not aware of any drink-ups or events, but wouldn't mind promoting
something in one of the cities I travel to a lot.

GNOME on Github - Tomboy

2013-01-01 Thread Jared Jennings
Today I found that GNOME is an organization on Github with several repp's.
While I think this is fantastic, several Repo's including Tomboy are out of
date. Regrettably, a few users are cloning and using these outdated Repo's.

1. Why isn't this being updated. Is it an automatic process?
2. If it is manual, can I get access so that I can keep it updated?
3. I wish GNOME would move to Github, but I know that has been discussed. I
wasn't around and don't need an explanation or any response. Just poking, I am
sure a can of worms :) :)

Thanks,

Jared Jennings

Re: Extending the call for candidates (was Re: Withdrawal of board of idrectors candidacy)

Seems like a valid point.

p.s. not saying the current candidates are not valid or worthy :)
p.s.s. a valid point that this year we should continue as is. It isn't fair to
the ones that have submitted their candidacy on time.
