As you can see we're working out options where people will be able to share rooms for as little as €25 per night. For 8 nights, that is indeed a substantial sum. What I meant is, prices of hotels will not get substantially more expensive as the date approaches, whereas prices for flights will. Thus, buying flights is a higher priority than reserving accommodation - meaning it's more urgent. Bear in mind that Spanish hotel star ratings are considerably lower than French ones. We have a few options lined up, the details of which we're still working out. A 4 star hotel for €75 per single room per night (€115 per night for a double or twin) 3 star hotels, with a cost ranging from €30 per night for a single to €80 or so for a twin/triple room We're also looking at block-booking holiday apartments for the week, I don't recall the costs involved, but it will be in the region of €600 to €700 for an apartment for 3 people for 8 nights. We're working on offering people who want cheap accommodation that option, with a target price of €30 per night, while offering those who expect a little more comfort or intimacy that option, for under €80 per night. We're also (obviously) working on keeping people as closely grouped as possible, in a city that has a very high number of hotel beds. Gran Canaria tickets: Now is a good time
Hi all, I just blogged about GUADEC 2009, and when you should consider buying tickets. Short answer: now is good. You should plan to arrive on the 3rd of July, and depart on or after the 11th. We're still working out the content, but we'll be starting with a bank on the 4th, and for people who need to leave early, we will likely be in BOF + themed sessions + hackfests mode from Tuesday through Friday. Tickets are cheapest now, I think. Good airlines for cheaper flights are Spanair, Air Europa, EasyJet. For those of you coming from North America, Europa is in Skyteam, so NWA, KLM or Air France might be good airlines to look at for a cheaper package. Note I am not a travel agent, though, so I don't really know. For those who have already decided you're coming this year, please buy your tickets this month. From next month, prices will rise as people plan their Summer holidays.
