New member from Montreal + GNOME Summit
Hello all, I think I have read the full thread about organizing the GNOME Summit, and Montreal winning over Portland. I am in Montreal, and I would like to offer my help. From my understanding, the Summit would happen during the Canadian Thanksgiving (Oct 12-14). There is an opportunity to have this summit coincide with the LibreOffice Hackathon (LibreOffice by The Document Foundation). I was wondering if this would fit well with the GNOME Summit? Your logistics need are for 35-50 people. The LibreOffice Hackathon could easily double the size of a combined events. The obvious benefits would be a greater media coverage. Mid-October would be just two weeks before the municipal elections, and the use of open source software has been an issue in Montreal (and Quebec, and Canada to a lesser extent) for a number of years. I think it would be great! Cheers from Montreal, Immanuel Giulea ___ foundation-list mailing list foundation-list@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/foundation-list
Hello from a new member
Hello, all Thank you, GNOME Foundation for accepting me as a member. I am absolutely thrilled! I am Sindhu. I come from a small coastal city called Mangalore in the south of India. I currently live and pursue school in Bangalore, India. I am finishing a Master's degree in Computer Science and I am to graduate in June. I previously worked worked at a government office before quitting to finish college and re-engage in my passion for FLOSS products and GNOME. I have been using GNOME for 8 years now, I have come wrangling all the way from random xserver crashes to admiring how pretty GNOME 3 is! When am not hunting for bugs to triage/file/fix, I love to read books (mostly fiction) and pack tasty meals for impromptu picnics :-) I hope to continue contributing in any and every way I can to this product that has radically changed the way I think about software and computing. new member, introduction
Hi. I've just been accepted as a GNOME Foundation member so I'll introduce myself in a few words. First, I'm very happy to be part of the gang :-) I'm from Paris, France. I've been an OpenBSD developer for 5 years now and I've been working on porting GNOME to this OS for the last 3 years, along with another fellow foundation member: Jasper Lievisse Adriaanse. Part of my day job is to support several hundred users running GNOME on OpenBSD for big corporations around the globe. Besides packaging, my GNOME work has been mostly about portability (aka ifdef dancing) or implementing missing functions for OpenBSD (e.g. glib credentials). I do hope in the future to be able to make wider contributions. Anyway, it's nice to be here. Thanks a lot to Matthias Clasen, Colin Walters, Dan Winship, Ryan Lortie, Cosimo Cecchi ... for the great help so far. -- Antoine ___ foundation-list mailing list foundation-list@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/foundation-list

(hint hint :P ) Well I don't blog, but I did write a small article about our usage of OpenBSD as an enterprise Desktop which contains some info about our use of GNOME (disclaimer: this is not a GNOME centric article, but since you asked for a bit more info ;-)). Anyway, you can see it on the OpenBSD Journal at http://www.undeadly.org/cgi?action=articlesid=20110420080633 and I also wrote an extended version of it for the BSD Magazine 2011 June issue. -- Antoine ___ foundation-list mailing list foundation-list@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/foundation-list
