Sorry a little late, but my nomination is for Tom Tryfonidis although I'm
not sure if he will be at GUADEC. His contributions have been the new wiki
design and working on various web projects. While I do respect those who
work on our platform, I have a lot of respect who work on our
infrastructure and know how to make it look amazing.

Re: Send us your pants nominations

2017-07-06 Thread Allan Day
Two names that I think ought to be on the list are Bastien Nocera and
Emmanuele Bassi. Both of them have been involved in the project for a
long time and both go that extra mile. I think of them both as people
who really believe in GNOME and work hard to make it a success.

Bastien does a lot of technical work in the background to keep GNOME
working well. This work often goes unnoticed but I always get the
impression that he really pushes hard to make the experience as good as
it can be. In addition to technical work, he's previously served on the
board, runs GNOME booths at events, has helped to restock the GNOME
events box, and most recently has been trying to organise a GUADEC bid
for Lyon.

Emmanuele has taken on some major technical initiatives which have been
crucial to the project, first with Clutter and now with the GTK Scene
Graph and Emeus. He's a former director, and he is involved in other
initiatives that are important for the project, for example by carrying
the continuous initiative.

We're missing a few entries, so if you know who won the pants those years,

He would also get my vote. Those who have ever talked to me about email
or follow me on various online outreach outlets (including Twitter or
G+) might know how much of a fan I am of the tireless work he quietly
does on Evolution, which is a fairly critical productivity tool to
many.

However, for him to get such a prize, one would need to ensure he
actually attends GUADEC. I have never had the opportunity to meet him
there so far, although I often expressed my interest in seeing him at
GUADEC, so this is me sending a wish into the world that he can be
extracted from Brno this year ;)___

Here's a nomination for Milan Crha who does lots of hacking on Evolution.

https://git.gnome.org/browse/evolution/log/

It's not the most public, "sexy" project in our arsenal, and while
many people find it more glorious to work on newer things like Maps,
Builder, Flatpak and more (I'm a fan of these projects, the
contributors and their work) it's still excellent to have people
contributing to one of the workhorses that helps many of us get a lot
of our work done.

Here's to Milan, and the other Evolution contributors. May they
continue their great work, and may other join them in the quest to a
better alternative to gmail.

There is not, and there should be. I was working on this a while ago,
but got sidetracked. I have a partial list. Ideally, we'd have a nice
page with photos and blurbs on what each of the pants winners did.

Is there a list somewhere of past recipients of the award? A quick
