RE: Re: Scripts to backup CP database and CSA to an alternate sta tion
OFHA has some problems that won't be resolved. See CAR 100053 and you'll find that OFHA will skip filenames when they are more than 14 characters in length. The CAR response recommends I rename these files so they are shorter kinda strange since they're either SYSTEM or FOXBORO created files. The CAR also states that Foxboro has NO intentions of fixing this problem and have turned it into a PRODUCT ENHANCEMENT... -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Saturday, April 29, 2000 3:57 PM To: Foxboro DCS Mail List Subject: Re: Re: Scripts to backup CP database and CSA to an alternate station If you are using model 51 stations, you should consider using the OFHA product that is included in the baseline software supplied with AW51s and AP51s Best Regards, Fred Yes I'd be happy to donate them. AW/PW 70's
Can anyone tell me what hardware works the best for AW/PW 70's? We are having lockups on our Dell PC's and no lockups on a generic box. I just want to eliminate the hardware issues before I dive into the software differences (if any). RE: AW/PW 70's
I have used a number of different machines as AW's and WP's including: Dell, Compac, IBM, and NEC. I didn't notice much of a difference on any of them as far as performance. The only regular lock up I used to encounter was on a DELL. It occurred when transferring graphic files to a WP and would only happen when I copied a large number of files. I never pursued the issue since I was planning on replacing the machine with a Compac server and only had to live with it for a short time. XVision on Win98
Got a weird one Currently we use SCO XVision to show remote display managers on our PCs for engineering work. (XVision is equivalent to Hummingbird eXceed. Corporate IT dictates that we use XVision instead of eXceed.) The particulars are: XVision version 7.0 32-bit server running on Win95, IBM Pentium 133 MHZ PC with 16 or 32 MB RAM. In preparation for new desktop PCs being deployed this summer, I'm testing the same XVision software running on the new machines, which also are IBM machines, but at 600 MHZ and 128 MB RAM running Win 98 Second Edition. We will still be using DM. No Foxview. Here's the weird one: I cannot pick any of the data entry areas on the Select screen. With two DMs coming from the same Sun box, the one on the Win95 machine works fine, the one on the new Win98 machine works almost as flawlessly, except for this glitch. What's going on? Anybody? RE: XVision on Win98
Just to be sure that you don't have a protection problem, do this in a command tool or VT100 window: /usr/local/pref -dmName DMCMD dmcmd unprotect all ; dmcmd enable omsets where dmName is the name of the DM that you are having the problem with. I'd start here because I've seen lots of sites where for one reason or another the DM works like this because it is configured wrong in the dmcfg file or the environment does something. This will eliminate that potential problem. Classic historian data location(s)
I am trying to find out where the classic: historian stores data. Is it in the Informix database? Or in the flat files called samples? I just located a refernce on bacing up Informix databases, and I was wondering if there were other dynamic places that historian data might be kept. -- Stan Brown [EMAIL PROTECTED]843-745-3154 Charleston SC. -- Windows 98: n. useless extension to a minor patch release for 32-bit extensions and a graphical shell for a 16-bit patch to an 8-bit operating system originally coded for a 4-bit microprocessor, written by a 2-bit company that can't stand for 1 bit of competition. - (c) 2000 Stan Brown.
