Re: [fpc-pascal] Installing fpc
Thanks for the reply, you are more than welcome to register my email on your mailing list. I got the email address in a google search when I searched for a solution. To come back to the response on my email: I've started off by downloading the lazarus1.4.2.deb file (I use Ubuntu 14.04) and used gdebi and later dpkg without success, the message was consistently the fpc > 2.6.4 was required, and although I have installed fpc-2.6.4 the result remained the same. So I downloaded the .tar fail and execute sudo ./install, that was when I got the message: "invalid user: ‘michael:michael’" */Steph Bredenhann/* PrEng, PrCPM (sent from SJB-Linux) On 07/09/2015 08:49, Tomas Hajny wrote: On Mon, September 7, 2015 08:44, Michael Van Canneyt wrote: On Sun, 6 Sep 2015, Steph Bredenhann wrote: Dear Michael When installing fpc I get the meassge "invalid user: ‘michael:michael’", do you have any suggestion on where I must chown? For Debian you usually have to be part of the "dialout" group to have access to the serial ports. Same for Slackware and possibly others.
