Re: [fpc-pascal] Advantages page in website

I for one think that the page is very important to clarify strong
points of Free Pascal for eventual users. I will be moving the old
contents to the wiki, where they can be worked and improved.

While copying it I removed most of the aggressive tone.

I think we can't mistake passion and excitement with aggressivity. A
completely neutral tone may be utherly boring to read. A more excited
tone is much more interresting, but I do agree it was somewhat
aggressive and that needs to be changed.

[fpc-pascal] Advantages page in website

2008-10-31 Thread Felipe Monteiro de Carvalho
hello,

What happened to the advantages page in the Free Pascal website?

It used to be: http://www.freepascal.org/advantage.html

I would like to reference it from an article, but it seams to be
removed. Why? Maybe it could be added back?

thanks,

I got no idea why it's gone, but you can get to it via the Web Archive site.

Last one available dates back to 09 Nov 2007.

Because it was written in a quite personal and confrontational style,
but nevertheless presented as a common view of the entire FPC team.
Some people, me in particular, did not like that. I do not consider
such a page worth spending time on either, but since some people do
think it is quite important to have I only started a discussion about
it when someone posted this link to the fpc-pascal list: http://www.screamingduck.com/Article.php?ArticleID=43Show=ABCE

I proposed to either replace the advantages page with a link to that
page, or to remove it entirely. Some of the developers did not like
linking to that page (since we don't control it, and not everyone
agree with everything in that article either). So the page was removed.
