RE: Language-specific text in a single-sourcing environment (unstructured framemaker 8)
Hello I am responsible for source files in English and distribute these to 5 translators abroad who are to make localized versions. Now the local markets want market-specific documentation in our so far standard manuals. To maintain one source you could have the language-specific sections conditionalised in the english source. This means that you produce paper and English, paper and German etc. I don't think this works for whole chapters though. In this case you will have to have language specific books. How do you handle this issue? Hypertext commands - popup menu - not working
Hi, I want to use hypertext commands in the header of a special FM document. They will allow me to open books, software, URLs without clicking elsewhere. I would like to organize these commands using submenus. Now my problem. I can have only 1 submenu and it must be at the top of the menu. Under it there can be commands directly, but if there is a submenu with commands they appear and open but on click do nothing (the commands work individually if they are clicked directly on the reference page). Here is the precise situation: On my Master page I have the word Language with the hypertext command Popup menu to popup flow Language (on Reference page). Emacs! The flow Language had three Popup commands (submenus) to distinct flows - Dictionary, Grammar, and Translation. Each of these flows have commands to open documents or go to URLs. The 3 submenus all display - see image. The commands in the Dictionaries flow display and all work. For the other 2 flows the commands they contain are displayed but when I click on any one of them they do not work. I tried using a graphic to define the active area instead of the word Language, to no avail. I have searched FrameMaker user forum and knowledgebase without success. Any ideas Framers? Does anyone out there have several submenus and their commands all work? Thanks for your ideas! ADMIN: List Back Up
Framers, My apologies for the list problems the past week or so. Somehow, everyone's subscriptions got set to nomail--so messages were being posted to the list and archived, but not being sent due to the 'nomail' setting in each of your preferences. The list is set to set individuals subscriptions to 'nomail' if there are too many bounces. I've turned the automatic bouncing off so this cannot happen again. Let me know if you are having any other problems. Thanks, Brad
