incorrect file name in the book - FM6 Unix

2009-04-18 Thread Arbelbide Kattalin

I am working on FrameMaker 6 under Unix.

When I open the book, the Chapter 7 Signal Analysis does not appear as
Chapter 7 but as Figure 364: Detected signals . When I click on
FormatDocumentNumbering, from the book, I check the following option:
Continue numbering from the previous file.

This error has occurred after updating the book several times.

I have deleted the Figure 364 caption but I still get the same error.

Any ideas on what might be causing this? How to solve this problem?

Thanks

Kattalin Arbelbide

Issue with ePublisher/Webworks and Word

2009-04-18 Thread writing4business
HiI know this is a forum for Frame, but found your site very valuable, as
it cited an issue with Frame and WW 2008.4 that may, indeed, be similar to the
issue I am having with Word 2007 and WW 2008.4.?? It can't seem to dulicate the
Source word file when I attempt to port to WW.

Does anyone know of an issue with Word 2007 and WW 8.4?

If so, are there any known work arounds?

OR...can you direct me to a site where I might find some info on this issue?

Thank you for your help.

Frame Displays and Prints Squished .cgm files

2009-04-18 Thread Lisa Freeman
We have a user here that is working in Frame 6.0 +SGML in a structured
document (yes we are trying to get the customer to update), on a Windows
XP machine. When he views and/or prints a page that contains a .cgm
illustration, the text is squished or flattened a bit. The same files
display fine on some other machines but not all. We have not been able
to find a common thread that causes this. We have tried checking every
setting in Frame that we can find, copied all the fonts from a good
machine to his, and tried every print driver in the house including
postscript, PCL, and Adobe. IT tells us that all settings on the
computers are the same as is the hardware. Strangely enough, it does
appear correctly in Frame 8. Has anyone else experienced this dilemma?
He can work around it for now by using another system to create his
deliverables, but this is driving several of us here totally batty!
Thanks in advance for any ideas you can provide.

Sincerely,

Lisa Freeman

I just checked in the FM7 book Sarah O'Keefe wrote, and it appears
Webworks *Standard*, the one Nancy was required
to use, does not even support HTML Help at all. You'd have to use the
regular HTML output, then create the index, toc, project file, alias and
map files by hand, or at best do it with HTML Help Workshop, which is
almost as bad.

Select the anchored frame, go to the Display Tools Palette, click on
Set Pen Pattern, Select the color of the pen, then select the line
width of the border.

Viola!

Subject: set Aframe propertys (on import XML)

Hi,

Would anyone know if it is possible to set the Frame propertys of an
anchored frame (containing an imported graphic) - either by default or on
import of an XML file?

I would like to have the anchored frame a black border, but by default a
frame has no border.

Thanks .

Re: Usage of WebWorks (ePublisher)

2009-04-18 Thread steve
I can't resist either. I must bring closure to part of this thread, just
in case somebody has a time machine accident or stumbles into a worm-hole
and finds themself back in 1986. :-)

There were several ways to eject a disk on a Mac.
1) Select the disk icon and choose Put Away.
2) Select the disk and choose Command-e or Eject. (Newer Finder versions)
3) Press Command-Shift-1.
4) Drag the icon to the trash.
If the normal methods weren't working, you would just hold down the mouse
button when you started up the computer. The paper clip was a last resort
for cases like a dead power supply.

If a disk got corrupted, the usual problem was a corrupted desktop file.
That's the hidden file with the disk content database. To rebuild this
file, you held down the Command (pretzel) and Option keys when you
inserted the disk. You'd be asked if you wanted to rebuild the desktop
file. Click OK, and most of the time you were back in business.

It goes to Jeremy's point -- to get the best results from a tool, you need
to learn as much about it as you can. E-mail lists like this help make
that easier today than it was in 1986.

Steve
