Character format override

2010-09-01 Thread Celine Dion
Hello all,

I'm using Mif2Go to convert FM8 books to HTML.

Once in a while, I need to override the Bold character format (color set to as
is) with a different color, which can have one or more words. I've been going
through the Mif2Go user's guide and trying all the permutations that I think
should work, but at best I get bold text with the HTMConfig marker. I've tried
with red, #FF, and a custom blue. The color is always black.

   - HTMConfig marker: [HTMLStyles]=Bold (or =Bold "Lite Blue")
   - config file, [Macros] section: HTMConfig=<$$HTMLStyles]Bold "Lite
Blue">

Can anyone help?

Thanks a lot.

I've been through the FM 9 manual and Scriptorium's Unstructured

- but no instructions on how to do it.

I need to create a new Master Page setup for a document (not a Book).
I want a first page that is different as I need to use the footer for
contact info, copyright statement, release date, etc,. The rest of
the document should use the standard right/left layout with page
numbers (beginning on page 2) and always ending with an even numbered
page.

The document itself is very straightforward, with a header and footer
and single flow body.

I have a basic Right/Left setup complete, but now I need to figure
out how to create that special first page and have my (unused) Body
view show 2 pages. So far, no luck. As this will become a much used
format - replacing a whole host of small MS Word docs - I need to get
this figured out. Any help would be appreciated.

1. View > Master Pages.
2. Special > Add Master Page.
3. Name your new page "First" or similar.
4. If your new master will share some characteristics (margins, size &
location of header/footer frames, etc.) with your Left or Right pages,
then Copy from one of them; otherwise choose Empty.
5. Modify the new master page to suit your purpose; don't add a page
number variable.
6. Format > Customize Layout > Master Page Usage: select your new
Custom master page and apply it to page 1.
7. Format > Page Layout > Pagination: choose Double Sided and Before

I don't understand your phrase, "(unused) Body view show 2 pages"...

Master Page Setup - "First Page Special" plus Right/Left

2010-09-01 Thread Mike
If I understand your problem correctly, I think the solution is pretty
straight-forward.

   1. In the file, View Master Pages.
   2. Create a new Master Page format and name it something like First.
   3. Adjust the header/footers as needed (along with any other page layout
   changes).
   4. Go back to the View Body Pages for the file.
   5. Make sure the first page of the file is visible, then select Format >
Page Layout > Master Page Usage.
   6. In the dialog, select your "First" page in the Custom field, and make
sure Apply To is set to Current Page.
   7. Click Apply.
   8. Go back to your file and display page 2.
   9. In the Master Page Usage dialog, click Left/Right and the Apply to
   Even pages. Click Apply.
   10. Go back to your file and display page 3.
   11. In the Master Page Usage dialog, click Left/Right and the Apply To:
   Odd pages check box.
   12. In the Pages field, make sure you change the "from" page to the third
page of your file. Then click Apply.

After completing this process, your file should have a custom page for only
the first page and then use the standard L/R pages for the rest of the pages
in the file.

Hope this helps.

Can anyone help me out here?

Hi Lea,

Most probably your file has three master pages -- Left, Right, and
First. FM creates the L/R automatically when you choose double-sided
layout, but whoever created your template would have added the First
master page, in which they created a header without including the
Running H/F2 variable. All you need to do is apply the First master
page to the first page of your file, and you should be OK.

You could check this page: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405970.html

What helped me was step 6, delete temp files (hidden files) from \Program
Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe PCD\cache

Wim, what was the name of the temporary file you had to delete? I'm facing the
same problem.

Thanks.

Running Header Problem

2010-09-01 Thread Galanter, Lea
Hi Fellow Framers,

I'm using Frame 9 on Windows 7 and I'm having a problem with a running
header that is not doing what it used to do. I'm using the Running H/F2
to put the title of the chapter at the top of the page, starting with
the second page of the chapter. For some reason, in a new book I've
created, the header is showing up on the first page, even though I'm
using the same template as with previous books. It's the exact same
variable as in all the other books I've created, so it should work the
same. In the dialog box for editing the variable, in the Location
section, it says M:Right(1), which I guess is what makes the heading not
appear on the first page of the chapter. (I didn't configure this
variable originally.)

Can anyone help me out here?

Thanks!

p.s. I could really use a class on working with Master pages, if anyone
knows of one!

Re: Training in XML, XSLT, XSL-FO

2010-09-01 Thread ETudsbery
I recommend www.online-learning.com. I did their 12 week XML authoring
course which was excellent. They also do an additional XSL techniques
course.

I'm looking for training (on-line or in-person) in these subjects and
have found some info at

 http://www.accelebrate.com/php_xml/default.htm.

I welcome any and all recommendations you have about sources for such
training (and especially about Accelebrate).

Thanks.

Is there a tool that scans a ditamap and lists all of the files within it?
