This can sometimes also happen when FrameMaker gets to specific EPSs files that
have something weird in them.

Something to try next time is, if you cannot print the document, to see if you
can create a PDF from it and print that.

Importing Flare files into Frame 7.2 or 8

2010-11-04 Thread Rick Quatro
Hi Joanne,

Flare files are basically XHTML files and there is no way to directly import
them into FrameMaker. Are you using structured or unstructured FrameMaker?
If you really want to do this, it could probably be scripted with
FrameScript. If you are interested in a scripting solution, please contact
me offlist. Thanks.

Hi folks,

(I'm running both Frame 7.2 and 8 from TCS on a Windows XP box.)

I've inherited guides in a variety of formats and need to merge 3 guides
into one. The catch is that 2 are in Frame while one is in Flare. Since I'm
far more adept in Frame I thought I'd move the one guide to that format but
I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it. I need to preserve as
much formatting as possible or this job will be endless. Is there a trick?

I'm on digest so please reply directly to me.

Thanks, Joanne Tait

Hello everybody,

I have installed FM9 on XP and Win7 but I get the same error.
When I try to launch it, it displays the message "Framemaker cannot
initialize its dictionaries. Either the LanguageDir entry specified in the
initialization file is missing or incorrect, or the files in the LanguageDir
are missing or corrupted"
After this error, Framemaker quits.

I have checked the make.ini file and it looks OK. Parameter
LanguageDir=dict.
To be on the safe side, please zip the dict folder of an FM9 installation
and send it to me.
Other suggestions welcome.

Thank you

FM file print erroring out

I finally got the manual to print on an HP Laserjet 5si Printer.

Thanks again.

Thanks Bethany. It is such a vague error referring to fonts - might also have
to do with the HP LaserJet 8100 printer engine. I am using a new 64 bit Dell
and I'm thinking the 64 bit drivers leave a lot to be desired.
Also the Win7 pro OS has it's issues.

I will ask the illustrator to check for a Photoshop element.
I finally got the job to print on an old HP Laserjet 5Si printer.

Thanks again one and all.

The printout errors out on at the same place every time. But that should not
be the problem because the manual prints the first 9 pages (with graphics)

I had the illustrators resave the graphics on page 9 to 11 and I have checked

I have even changed printer drivers. We have many other manual of the same and
they do not error out on FM printing. Following is the error I am receiving.

 Hello Jeff,

I tried to rename Linguistics folder. FM9 has created a new one but was unable
to open the application: I get the same error.

I would rename your Linguistics folder under your \application data\adobe\
folder - FM will recreate it & should start up ok.

Hello everybody,

I have installed FM9 on XP and Win7 but I get the same error.
When I try to launch it, it displays the message "Framemaker cannot initialize
its dictionaries. Either the LanguageDir entry specified in the initialization
file is missing or incorrect, or the files in the LanguageDir are missing or
corrupted"
After this error, Framemaker quits.

I have checked the make.ini file and it looks OK. Parameter LanguageDir=dict.
To be on the safe side, please zip the dict folder of an FM9 installation and
send it to me.
Other suggestions welcome.

Thank you

Anton David
