Last paragraph in FM file cannot be modified

2010-12-22 Thread Pat Christenson
This has happened to me a few times. I've deleted the paragraph in
MIF and it worked fine.

Last paragraph in FM file cannot be modified

2010-12-22 Thread David Schor
Roy,

Have you tried isolating the last paragraph on the last page of the file and
then deleting the last page?

schooled me at little on this topic ;>)

Create 3 styles:
Step1
Step
Step_sub

(the actual naming is up to you)

Autonumbering per style is:
Step 1
N:.\t

Step
N:.\t

Step_sub
N:< >)\t

You do not need a "reset counter" for the substep.

I am using the following auto-numbering scheme and can get the
"numbering" to pick up where it left off after using auto-numbers a),
b), c),... Here is an example of what I get:

1. First step...
2. Second step...
3. Third step...
a) First substep
b) Second substep
c) Third substep
5. (Should be 4th step)

Links not working: Frame 8 to PDF to external file

2010-12-22 Thread Tina Ricks
Hi everyone,

Frame version: 8.0p277

Adobe Acrobat Pro version: 8.2.5

I'm creating a giant PDF file (in Frame) of conference papers for a
professional conference. It will be burned on a CD. I have my giant PDF, and
I have a folder called Attachments. Inside the Attachments folder are a
whole load of PowerPoint Show files (.pps)

GiantPDF.pdf

Attachments

Filename.pps

Filename_2.pps

(etc. etc.)

In Frame, I created hyperlinks with this setting:

Special > Hypertext

Command: Message Client

Syntax box:

Message openfile Attachments/Filename.pps

(this seemed like the correct syntax for a relative pathname, based on
several internet resources)

On my computer, this works great. I can create my PDF, I can move my folder
structure elsewhere on my computer and things work.

When I create a CD and take it to a different computer, my giant PDF can't
find the PPS files. Why?

All internal links within the PDF work fine.

What am I doing wrong?

Would love any assistance.

Last paragraph in FM file cannot be modified

2010-12-22 Thread Chris Despopoulos
This is so wierd, because this JUST happened to me last night. Indeed, it's a
Word document opened in Maker. For my situation, it happened to the PGF that
follows a text inset... once in a table cell, so it was the last pgf in the
flow, and another time in the middle of the document.

I found that if I inserted a bunch of pgfs in front of the dodgy one (hit
return
a few times), I could then modify the format for those pgfs. Then, if I
deledet
up from the bad one, it took the formatting of the previous pgfs. So that
fixed
the problem for me.

Very odd, and scary. The usual MIF washing didn't have any effect. I was
scared that maybe the file was corrupt, but I think I can trust it. Time will
tell...

This has happened to me a few times. I've deleted the paragraph in
MIF and it worked fine.

Free FrameScript Calendar Script

2010-12-22 Thread Marjorie Mayo
Dear Framers,

The FrameScript development team has developed a calendar generating
FrameScript script that we are providing as a free holiday gift to all
our customers.

If you have FrameScript then simply download the file and follow the
simple instructions to create a new 2011 calendar in FrameMaker. In
fact, you can use it to create a calendar of any year you wish. Use the
data file feature to place text items (such as birthdays, holidays and
special events) in any day of the year. You can even add your own images
or use the ones that come with the script. If you don't have
FrameScript, you probably know someone who does. Create your own data
file and have them generate a calendar for you.

The calendar generating script will generate a calendar (in FrameMaker)
for the specified year. There is an optional data file (in .INI format)
where you may place text (up to 3 lines) for any day of the year (such
as birthdays or special events). A sample data file is provided. The
formatting for the calendar comes from a template which you may modify
to suit your own tastes, although changing the font sizes too much might
affect the output. Also, there are 12 images (one for each month) that
comes with the calendar. You may replace them with your own (6.4" wide,
1" height) or remove them entirely. The source code for the calendar is
included, so you modify it with your own ideas.

After downloading the file, create a new directory (folder) and unzip
the file into this new directory.
Use the FrameScript "Run..." menu command to start the calendar.fsl
script.
Follow the instructions on the screen.

Happy holidays!
