FrameMaker 11 "Add ons" - also for earlier versions!
Echoing Scott's enthusiasm, I was delighted to see there's a version for FM10 too. Great! Cheers Rebecca >>> Scott Prentice 14/08/12 09:05 >>> Klaus... These are some wonderful resources that you've provided to the FM community! I'm particularly interested in the maker.ini and customization documentation. I'm pretty sure that Adobe is looking to improve their docs .. they should just pay you for this information and include it as theirs. I'm also very impressed with the work you've done on the UI enhancements .. wonderful toolbar and pallete work! Framers .. Take a few minutes and look over this information that Klaus has provided. Even if you're not on FM11, you'll find a wealth of information on his website for your FM version. Cheers! ...scott On 8/13/12 12:44 PM, Klaus Daube wrote: Framers, I'm not involded with the acclaimed new featues in the XML and DITA area - I'm still on the unstructured route (and my customers just as well). That gave me time to ride other "hobby horses" during the beta-test: 1 Enhanced Tool Bar ( http://www.daube.ch/docu/fmaker66.html ) for FM-11 : Items 2, 3, 5, 6 are also included here. 2 Modified Equation Palette ( http://www.daube.ch/docu/fmaker65.html ) : 25% larger, clearer display by use of fonts 3 Enhanced Vertical Toolbar ( http://www.daube.ch/docu/fmaker67.html ) : two rather than four levels; new functions in the upper part. The vertical toolbar fits nicely into the margin area of facing pages thus reducing mouse miles on a large screen. 4 Entries in maker.ini ( http://www.daube.ch/docu/fmaker68.html ) : a list of all the items since FM-3 with explanations. Of course some mysteries could not be resolved... 5 Customising FrameMaker ( http://www.daube.ch/docu/files/etb-customising-fm.pdf ) : Based on the document provided lastly for FM-7 I've documented the procedures for FM-11. Also includes maker.ini entries relevant for FM-11. 6 FrameMaker Commands ( http://www.daube.ch/docu/files/etb-fm11-commands.pdf ) : A list of all commandi in FM-11 created with itl script. If Adobe does not improve some pathetic dialogues (e.g. Insert Table), I'll probably throw myself into even more work. Well, time for such things to do may have only retired and passionate people like me. Table Question
All, 1. I have been bouncing back and forth like a ping pong ball between Framemaker and Word these past few weeks, so things are getting a bit cluttered in my mind about what you can and cannot do in the two applications, so please be patient and kind if this seems like an obvious question. I know that in Framemaker, different ruling styles can be set for alternating rows or groups of rows, but can you set different rows to different heights? I know it can be done in Word, but given my druthers, I would rather stay working in Framemaker when I have a choice, and this time, for this project, I have a choice. Installing the Archive Program in FrameMaker 11 (Formerly: Bruce Foster's FrameMaker Archive Program)
I found an answer to my question so I thought I'd share. The location for the archive script can be found at http://blogs.adobe.com/techcomm/2011/07/create-a-book-packager-using-extendscript.html. Install the Archive Program in FrameMaker 11 1. Download and extract the script (Under Code Snippets, click the link script attached). 2. In FrameMaker 11, run the script. a. Click File -> Script -> Run. A pop will appear. b. Go to the folder where you saved the script. Select Archive-v2.jsx and click OK. View the Archive Program Click File -> Utilities. The archive program should be listed.
