OT: Help Authoring Tool called HelpBreeze?

2012-11-14 Thread Tammy Van Boening
All,

I know that we have tons o' help gurus on this list, so that is why I posted
here, but made sure to mark the topic as OT. I thought that I had heard/knew
of every Help Authoring/Conversion Tool out there that was considered to be
a major player in the field - Flare, ePublisher, Robohelp, Mif2Go, and
DocToHelp but I just learned of HelpBreeze yesterday. Here is the link to
the site: http://www.solutionsoft.com/hlpbrz.htm.

>From reviewing its specs., it integrates directly with MS Word, but the most
recent version available (3.0) is compatible only up to Word 2003. I also
reviewed their list of clients, and I know for a fact that three of the
clients listed now use a different HAT.

Anyway, this is a legacy product/tool that a new client has used in the past
and I was wondering if anybody had ever heard of this tool, used it before,
and had any comments/statements about it.

Thanks,

TVB

OT: Need contract help with RoboHelp

2012-11-14 Thread Gutierrez, Dorianne
I am struggling with setting up a rather massive Microsoft Help (chm) in
RoboHelp from FrameMaker source files - have tried linking, importing, starting
from scratch, importing existing project. We have Adobe Technical
Communications Suite 3.5 (RoboHelp 9, FrameMaker 10). Context-sensitive help is
part of the project, using a .h file of resource IDs.

I'm looking for someone interested in a short-term contract to help set up the
project and show me where I am being so dense. If you are interested, please
reply off-list to the e-mail address below, including a resume or summary of
your experience and your rate. I'm sure we can figure out a way to work
together remotely.

Thanks so much,

Zapfdingbats font replacement issue

2012-11-14 Thread Craig Ede

You could change Adobe PI Std to WingDings in the maker.ini. (Not sure what the
font cognoscenti with think of that for high quality printout; I'd be
interested to hear.) Craig

OT: Need contract help with RoboHelp

2012-11-14 Thread Robert Lauriston
I think I'll write up a cheat sheet for linking a FrameMaker project
to RoboHelp. It's not hard but the documentation doesn't make it clear
which steps to perform in what order.

Zapfdingbats font replacement issue

2012-11-14 Thread Robert Lauriston
I couldn't get font substitution to work, so I just hacked Adobe Pi
Std with Type Light to add the bullet glyphs and map them to l and n.
Didn't work until I figured out I needed to reboot Windows to apply
the font change.

font change not appearing in Autonumber

2012-11-14 Thread Robert Lauriston
FM10. Inherited documents, template has evolved over maybe 15 years so
there's a lot of legacy cruft.

I have a Bullet1 paragraph tag. Its Autonumber Format is l\t (that's a
lowercase L before the backslash). The Character Format for the
autonumber is Bullet. The font for the Bullet character tag was once
upon a time Zapf Dingbats but it gets remapped to Adobe Pi Std.

On my predecessor's machine, Bullet1 had a round bullet, maybe because
he had a different Zapf Dingbats, I don't know (machine has been wiped
so I can't check it). On my machine, instead of a bullet there's a
question mark.

I was unable to get font mapping to work so I hacked Adobe Pi Std to
add the bullet glyph from Zapf Dingbats BT Regular and map it to l.

If I type an l and format it with the Bullet character tag, it appears
as a bullet, but Bullet1 still has a question mark in place of a
bullet.

Suggestions?
