Japan translation and dtp
Japanese is the most expensive language to translate into. I recommend asking your translator for the translation memory (TM) files as part of the deliverables. Otherwise, it will be just as expensive the next time you ask for your docs to be translated. __ Jon Harvey Lead Technical Writer Analysis, Integration & Design, Inc. 978-370-3226 From: simandl at mac.com To: framers at lists.frameusers.com Date: 11/18/2012 08:22 AM Subject:Re: Japan translation and dtp Sent by:framers-bounces at lists.frameusers.com Jacob, Hello. For the Japanese DTP, I recommend that you use the following fonts: Kozuka Mincho Pro (KozMinPro) (for the substitution of serif font) Kozuka Gothic Pro (KozGoPro) (for the substitution of sans-serif font) These fonts may be included in the font set of the Acrobat Pro, so you may have already installed them, and you can embed them to the PDF. I use the FrameMaker in my office only and I'm in my home now, so I cannot advise about the detailed settings for the Japanese composition (Kumihan). But if you have any questions, please post them to this ML. bullets for nested lists
I'm revising my FM 10 templates to get rid of ZapfDingbats, which someone back in the FM 5.5.6 era chose for bullets in paragraph tags. One option is just to use the bullet building block for all three levels of bullets. Another might be to use the same bullet symbols you'd get in a Web browser (solid round, hollow round, solid square), but I don't find any Web-safe font with all three of the same size. Am I missing something?
font change not appearing in Autonumber
I was trying to avoid having to change anything in the documents. If I were going to edit the styles, I'd just use the bullet building block. Eventually I figured out that the fundamental problem was that the docs department's master font directory had only one of the two files required to install the Type 1 version of ZapfDingbats. Confluence 4 export: the one feature that would justify my upgrading from FM10
MIF2Go can generate Confluence 4 XHTML, but I still haven't managed to import it into Confluence except page by page. And there's no way to go the other direction, which would actually be the biggest selling point.
