Hi Framers, Anyone using FrameMaker 12 subscription version? The price I am seeing is $29.99 per month, but it requires a 1 year commitment. If you cancel before the year is up, they charge you 50% of the remaining months. Huh? What good is a month-to-month subscription if I have to commit to a year? I am inquiring for a low-budget, non-profit client. Come on Adobe; there is enough bad will with all of the subscription stuff and high upgrade prices. Why the one-year commitment? Is it that costly to turn the subscription on or off before the year is up? Why not like my Lynda.com subscription which I can turn off and on at will? F8 and F9 are working again in FM11. There is a slight delay the first time you use one of them, but other than that they are OK. I wish I had a copy of FrameMaker 8, it is in many ways superior to later versions, especially if you prefer keyboard shortcuts to the mouse. Adobe layered a badly designed UI on top in FM9, the new UI broke a lot of things, they never fixed them. They've added some useful features but fundamentally it hasn't changed much since FM8 (which does have Unicode support). People are successfully running FM8 on Windows 7, personally I'd try it before switching to a newer version.
