Re: [Framers] Compiling books on to a CD/DVD

Good idea. It's been quite a while since I played with PDF portfolios, but if I
recall correctly, that lets the readers search across all the portfolio
components. At least when they're using Adobe Reader.

Hi Tom,

You might also combine them in a PDF portfolio.

https://acrobatusers.com/tutorials/how-create-pdf-portfolio

The portfolio supports all the features which you need.
However, I do not know, whether other PDF viewers
can open such a portfolio. Just test it.

Best regards

This is not necessarily a FrameMaker issue, but I a presuming that some of you
may have done this and would be able to provide me with needed advice.

For a few of our machines, we ship several manuals with each group of machines
on a project -- one print copy of each manual and, currently, a CD/DVD of each
individually packaged in a CD/DVD book case. I want to replace these multiple
CDs with a single disc that contains the pdf versions of all of the manuals
shipped.

Rather than just burning all of the manuals to disc, I'd like to compile them
onto a single disc with a cover file that opens when the CD is inserted (if the
user has autoplay enabled) and provides links to each of the manuals on the CD.
Is it possible to do this in Acrobat (I have Acrobat XI Pro running on a 64-bit
Windows 7 Enterprise SP1) or FrameMaker? All of the manuals that would be
burned to the CD also were created in FrameMaker 12.

Re: [Framers] Frame to PDF Issues

2016-01-14 Thread White, Scott
My client was running Microsoft Security Antivirus and it was indeed not
allowing PDF creation. They couldn’t just do exceptions but had to uninstall
the suite of software to get Frame to save as PDF.
Thank for the help.

Subject: [Framers] Frame to PDF Issues

I have a client who is having a problem distilling a 7-page FrameMaker 2015
file with embedded hi-res pdfs into a single PDF file that is print ready. When
he goes to create the PDF using save as PDF function he said it takes more than
8 hours or to the point where he just quits the job. He sent me the same file
and I was able to save as pdf in 2.5 minutes. When uses another Frame file
without embedded pdfs but just regular .tif graphics and text, it creates a pdf
in a timely manner.
What are some of the things that he should check for that may be causing this
issue? He had this same problem with Framemaker 11.

He and I are both running Windows 7 enterprise, 64 bit, 8+ gb RAM.

Hi Winfried,

I looked at the tutorial and that, I think, is exactly what I need! That
and the information Carol Elkins provided should do the trick!
