[Framers] Runaround properties for tables in FrameMaker?

2019-05-10 Thread Peter Kelly
Hi Framers,

Have always had good advice from you so am out to test my luck again. Is there
a way of specifying runaround properties for tables? Whenever I have a table in
a main text flow, I am not able to make text runaround the table. I've only
been able to make text precede and follow. Creating a two column layout for
this just seems like a lot of work that would not be re-used. Any advice is
appreciated.

Best,
Peter

Don't mean to be nit-picky, shouldn't it be 15.0.3.603. Hope this helps.

Note: I am not a structure expert. I have used structured FrameMaker a little
but I have not tried to create either EDDs or DTDs and wouldn't have the first
idea of how to. ;-)

With that caveat out of the way, the way you worded your message makes it sound
to me like your EDD is set up to use a single cell table to contain your figure
title and the actual figure. There is a known bug in FrameMaker with respect to
inserting a graphic into a table cell and having the graphic import in
miniature. It should have been fixed in Update 3.

If your FrameMaker 2019 is fully updated (should show the version as
15.0.0.603), then drop a line to Amitoj Singh
(amisi...@adobe.com<mailto:amisi...@adobe.com>)

This is a link to the discussion on the FrameMaker forums. It might be of help.

Re: [Framers] Runaround properties for tables in FrameMaker?

2019-05-10 Thread Lin Sims
You can't do that using table properties. You could if you created a text
frame and inserted the table inside the frame. If you have standard table
configurations that take up the same space on the page, you could probably
save a text frame somewhere, copy and paste it in, then insert the table.
Or Silicon Prairie has the Autotext plugin which would let you set it up in
a document and insert as needed, frame and table at the same time.

Why are you trying to do this, btw? Is it because your tables aren't as
wide as the page so you want to take advantage of the blank space?

Amitoj told me this morning that the issue wasn't addressed in Update 3
after all. I may have misread what he said on the forums. However, they *are
*working on it for Update 4, since this is a problem for many users.
