Ugh. I'd rather not have a shortcut for rotating the cell contents, since
that's something I do very rarely. Adding rows or columns, however, is a
daily thing.

Wait. If I take OUT the command for rotating text from cmds.cfg, does that

[Framers] OT: (Kinda') Spam to Adobe Partners

2019-08-21 Thread tammyvb
I know many of us, as am I, on this list are Adobe Partners and I was under
the impression (perhaps incorrectly) that:

1. Adobe had to ask you to be a partner before you get added to/have
access to the list.
2. Adobe monitored the list and didn't allow anyone to sign up unless
they could be verified.

Over the last week and a half, I have been flamed incessantly from trolls
stating that "We found your company is related to "Partner of Adobe Computer
Software," and offering to sell me a list of potential clients to bolster my
business. The email address is a bogus address that changes constantly
despite the exact same message being sent, and there is no other contact
information such as a valid name/contact number provided. I have been simply
sending these cr*p emails to the trash, but the last straw was today when I
received an 8 am phone call from one of these spammers, w/ a very heavy
accent and the first words out of their mouths was "We found that your
company . . "

Has anyone else been receiving this kind of garbage? Can Adobe me made aware
of this and perhaps verify to whom they have recently given access to this
list and maybe kill it that way?

Just a stream of thought - and TIA.

Yep, I've been receiving the same emails. Added to Adobe's already
incessant marketing emails, I just automatically delete them. But
someone at Adobe needs to patrol this. I'm sure there are many Adobe
employees on this list and hopefully they will escalate the concern
to the higher-ups.

Re: [Framers] OT: (Kinda') Spam to Adobe Partners

2019-08-21 Thread 4XScripts

I think it would be better to post this in the Adobe forum.

All partners are listed at the partners page :
https://partners.adobetechcomm.com/  ( currently unavailable)

So everybody can find all partner addresses. I don't think that Adobe
can stop that kind of spam.

So I just delete that spam.

[Framers] Updating Entity Declarations in XML Output and Working with CGM Graphics

2019-08-21 Thread cuc tu
I'm working from a structured XML document that I've saved as FM. I have
removed several graphics, which are declared as entities. When I save out XML,
all of the unused entity declarations persist. How do I remove those? I'm also
now getting an error message that notation mif was referenced but never
declared. That just came out of the blue so I don't know what I did to cause
that issue?

I'm having a difficult time with having the graphics written out in CGM format.

If I'm using Illustrator files that are properly sized and Import them at 100%,
the resulting CGM file resolution is very low.

Some of the graphics are TIFF and the resulting CGM file ends up being
physically too large for the customer (we only give them XML and CGM graphic
files, and they produce PDF with graphics show about 400% larger). TIFF files
are also imported at 100%, but I noticed some of the TIFF files have large DPI
settings, like 200 or 600. When I open the XML file in FM, some of the graphics
are a little larger than from the source, but not nearly as large as what I see
in the PDF.

Thanks

Re: [Framers] OT: (Kinda') Spam to Adobe Partners

2019-08-21 Thread Stefan Gentz
Hi Tammy, Carol et al,

I get such emails practically every day as well and other people in my team,
too. The thing is, once you have published your email somewhere on the web, you
will automatically end up at some point on the lists of such criminals. There
is hardly anything one can do except for keeping your email address secret.

If those guys got your contact data from your profile on the Adobe Technical
Communication Partner Portal (https://partners.adobetechcomm.com/) – might be,
might be not. Or maybe from LinkedIn. Or maybe just from your own homepage:
https://spectrumwritingllc.com/wordpress/partners/ where you mention your
Partnership with Adobe, or
https://spectrumwritingllc.com/wordpress/spectrum-writing/contact/ where you
expose your email and phone number.

I do not see why or how Adobe should or could "patrol" the communication
between two third parties. That would be illegal anyway.

Regarding the partner portal: We are currently revamping it (while I'm
writing). As part of the revamp we thought a lot about how we can, on the one
hand, protect the privacy of our partners, and on the other hand, make the
communication between people who are interested in your services or products
and you as our partner as easy as possible. One result of these discussions is
that we introduce a contact form so that potential customers can write to you
as a partner through that form. This will eliminate the need for you to expose
your email address. However, a "bad guy" can of course also spam you with such
a form (while we will further improve this to make it as hard as possible for
them.

> 1. Adobe had to ask you to be a partner before you get added to/have access
> to the list.
Everyone can "apply" to become a partner. There is an open application form for
this on the partner portal. If we receive an application, we do an intensive
background check first to pre-validate the applicant and then go into a
one-on-one conversation with the applicant. (Exception: We know the person
already personally for a longer time and asked the person to apply). Only if
that went through, the company or individual will be approved as a partner.

> 2. Adobe monitored the list and didn't allow anyone to sign up unless they
> could be verified.
That is correct. See my comment above. No one on the partner portal is
"unknown" to us, and there are no "fake profiles."

Seriously, though, first of all, condolences to you and others who are

vendor-list security issues.

Also, a suggestion worth mentioning: if you haven't already, create your
own SPAM filter for these messages, that sends the messages to your own
Trash folder, and also reports them as SPAM to your enterprise IT folks,
your ISP, and if there's an Adobe abuse address, to that venue, also.

When you open an XML document, FM saves information from entity and
notation declarations as well that were specified in the XML document on
a reference page called Entity Declarations. It also saves any entity
references within the as XML, FM recreates the saved declarations and references. Doing so is
essential since the effective DTD can be changed by these declarations.
If your files only include information about graphics on this page, you
can safely delete the reference page before saving as XML.

I'm also now getting an error message that notation mif was referenced but
never declared. That just came out of the blue so I don't know what I did to
cause that issue?
Look at your XML output and see if some graphics are being written out
as MIF. You can avoid the problem either with r/w rules that change the
output format or by adding a notation declaration such as:

I'm having a difficult time with having the graphics written out in CGM format.

Do you want CGM? You can specify a different format with a r/w rule such as:

    export to file "graphic.jpg" as "JPG" ;

See the Structure Application Developer's Guide and Structure
Application Developer Reference for details.
