[Framers] Acrobat Shared Review Cannot be Created

2023-01-23 Thread cuc tu
Hi All,

We are again experiencing a problem with creating/sending Shared Reviews either
from Acrobat or Framemaker. We had a problem with (I believe, but not sure)
Windows defender blocking the app. Our usual process is to send from Acrobat as
a link to the author and our SharePoint site, then email the file manually. But
we've tried every method, updated SW, repair install, etc. If sending from
Framemaker as a comment enabled file, users can make comments, but of course
it's not really a shared review, and some of our content comes from Word and
other sources. It started happening intermittently, then it came permanent. We
are using TCS2015.

What we get is the progress dialog does not start and the program is locked, or
a dialog results that says the shared-review enabled file could not be
produced, or the file could not accessed/does not exist.

If we cannot fix this, is there another useful alternative?

Thanks
C2

Are you saying that FrameMaker 10 will not work with Windows 11?

Ugh, I had a longtime client that switched from Framemaker to Flare because
they initially thought that they wanted only OLH, but when their clients
complained that they just wanted their gold standard PDF manuals back, sigh. .
. .it was too late. We spent an extra 20% on screwing around getting PDFs in
Flare just right as a result . . . Flare is superb for OLH, but for classic
PDFs, nothing beats Framemaker.

You were such a stalwart on this list for so long!!! And you are right . . .it
was grand while it lasted.

Sadly, we have switched to Flare. We still have some legacy documents in
FrameMaker 10, but with the move to Windows 11, we have to convert those, too.
I'm on this list "just in case", but I expect to disappear in a few years.

We had a good time while it lasted...
