Thanks, Jeremy, for shedding light on this. In my files, the chapter title
is in a text frame on the first page, not on the First master page.

Per Tori's suggestion, I modified my chapter template by selecting the text
frame with the title, right-clicking, and choosing Send to Back. This solves
 the problem.

Is there an advantage to putting the text frame on the First master page and
connecting the frame with the title to the body text frame?

A strange phenomenon is happening with the generated TOCs in a few of the
books. The first heading in each chapter appears as the last heading in the
previous chapter. Here's an example (errant entries are italicized):

 CONTENTS
About this guide
Conventions
Zucchini

 1. Vegetables
Potato
Squash
Broccoli
Orange

 2. Fruits
Apple
Banana
Mango

I've checked the TOC reference page and it's exactly the same as the TOC
reference pages in the manuals with TOCs that are okay. Any idea on what
 could be wrong?

Yes. On the first page of your chapters, the chapter title is
in a text frame that is not connected to the body text frame on
its page. So the body text, containing the subhead, is processed
before the title. The solution is to connect the text frame with
the title to the body text frame on your First master page.

 HTH!

What is the best online source for Adobe Technical Communication Suite
training? I currently own Version 1.3, but am considering an upgrade. Any
idea why Lynda.com doesn't offer any courses for the integrated suite?

Query on Structured FrameMaker

2010-04-08 Thread Gurpreet Virdi

Hi All,

I am facing problem with Structured FrameMaker. I need to open an XML file
(checked out from XDOC tool) containing child elements in it, but somehow
whenever I open the file, the child elements are not visible to me.

I have tried opening the same XML file, on other systems, wherein all the child
elements embedded in this XML file are visible to others. I am unsure if I have
changed any setting by mistake.

Please help, if there is any setting in XDOC or framemaker to view the child
elements.

thanks and regards,
gurpreet
