it's just hard to notice in Myriad.

How do I get 2 locations to point to the same footnote? In other words I
want 2 separate markers for the same footnote:

I hope that makes sense.

Frame and Distiller Crash

2008-05-16 Thread Joel Wilhelm
Most, if not all, of the problems are from the fntcache.dat file on the C
drive. To fix this problem, do the following:

Open Notepad. Enter this text in Notepad:

del c:\windows\system32\fntcache.dat
shutdown -s

Save the file as a .bat file on your desktop. Mine is called
"delfontcache.bat" When you run this .bat file, it deletes the fntcache and
shuts your PC down. The result is that FrameMaker doesn't crash any more. So
before you shut down your PC (every time), run this .bat file to clear out
the fntcache and shut down for you - problem solved.

fractions

2008-02-26 Thread Joel Wilhelm
I am looking for a way to write fractions inline with my text, without using
the math functions. I looked at the Frame 8 Character Sets manual, and I see
1/4, 1/2 and 3/4, but nothing else. Is there a way to generate fractions
without just writing them like I am here (i.e. 1/4)?

Re: Frame and re-use

2007-09-15 Thread Joel Wilhelm
I guess what I'm asking about is ease of use John. I'm looking at apps like
Author-it that seem to be more friendly to drag and drop composition, and
I'm wondering which way to go. These are people to whom Word is about as
painful as it gets.

Frame and re-use

2007-09-14 Thread Joel Wilhelm
Hi all, I am wondering if Frame 8 allows for fairly easy re-use of content?
Let me outline what I mean:

I know Frame well enough, but if my company were to purchase 5-10
installations, and let non-experts work on Frame docs, would it be easy
enough for them to drag and drop modules into an outline format for re-using
content? Or do they need to know how to use conditional text and dig into
the program to be able to use it effectively?

Thanks in advance,

JMW
