Re: OT: Looking for an offshore headhunter
Find someone local who works as an independent and who can do it direct. Your company will have no overheads such as recruiter costs, and the work will stay in this country. That person will probably do a better job because they should be able to come on site if needed to meet with those involved in the project. --- Jon Harvey [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi all, I know what kind of discussion this can get into but I'd like to ask a question anyway. My manager has give approval for me to hire a documentation contractor as long as that person can be gotten from an offshore locale where the expense isn't as high as it would be to hire someone in the U.S. We've used other offshore companies in the past with some success but don't want to end up being dependent on them-we'd like to diversify our list of vendors. Can't send FM file.
I appreciate the willingness of several of you to try to respond to my question, but As suggested, I tried to download WinZip. When I get to the part about what file to zip, I cannot find my FrameMaker files in the list. It looks like there are older versions of the files, but not the most recent ones, which puzzles me even more. Several of you also sent suggestions that are completely Greek to me, because I don't know what steps to take to implement these suggestions. I am now completely stumped about how to get this file sent. The recipient gets a message that says missing file, but I have no idea how to find such a thing. I even upgraded to 6 MB of DSL for an extra $10/month to send a 4 MB file. I faxed them a copy so they would at least have it in hard copy, but they need it electronically for their files. Re: FM - tags and text boxes
Karen, Thanks for your reply, but no, I am not asking about how to change the look of the dotted lines, because they don't show up on the final copy (at least I don't think they do). I am asking about how to manipulate, i.e. resize, them. I would rather see them so I know where they are. I will look for that book you mentioned in a used book shop near here. btw, you don't have to send me a message and then the same message to the list, because I will see it there, and it will avoid my getting duplicate messages. I would just delete the one, but I am not sure whether you are telling me something different than what you are telling the list until I actually open both. --- Karen Mardahl [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: ´¨¨)) -:¦:- ¸.·´ .·´¨¨)) ((¸¸.·´ ..·´ -:¦:- An excerpt from Robert Giddings Musical Quotes and Anecdotes, published in Longman Pocket Companions: There let the pealing organ blow, To the full-voiced choir below, In service high, and anthems clear, As may with sweetness, through mine ear, Dissolve me into ecstasies, And bring all Heav'n before mine eyes. Re: FM - text boxes
When I switch to Master Pages, the dotted boxes look different from those in Body Pages, so there is no point in even trying to change them. I have no idea how one works with them. As someone pointed out, 5.5 is a pretty old version and doesn't have the same level of support. First, back your file up before you play with text frames on Master pages. You can get unexpected results. I guess so!!! Another issue I have is the text boxes outlined by dotted lines. How does one change them? I would have thought it was possible when you switch the View to Master Pages but I don't see how. ´¨¨)) -:¦:- ¸.·´ .·´¨¨)) ((¸¸.·´ ..·´ -:¦:- An excerpt from Robert Giddings Musical Quotes and Anecdotes, published in Longman Pocket Companions: There let the pealing organ blow, To the full-voiced choir below, In service high, and anthems clear, As may with sweetness, through mine ear, Dissolve me into ecstasies, And bring all Heav'n before mine eyes. Thanks to several of you who replied to my question. This is much more complicated than I had any idea of. I am definitely not up for getting more products and having to deal with them.
