I didn't follow the entire thread. Did you import the PDF into a graphics frame
or anchored frame?

Which context-menu do you see when you right-click on the graphic? Can you
move the graphic within the frame?

In order to select the frame, try to click a tiny bit outside the frame.

zipping an FM book

2008-10-06 Thread Plueckhahn, Lutz
Hi Deidre,

As Art already suggests - make sure the paths are correctly stored.

That sounds like he's trying to open the book directly within the zip file.
This won't work - he has to unzip all files first.

FM and png format

2008-07-17 Thread Plueckhahn, Lutz
Dear Framers,

My customer asks whether it's OK to provide the screenshots for his manual in
png
format. I have no objections, so far, but just to be sure: are there any
particular
drawbacks/shortcomings/pitfalls I have to consider regarding this format?

TIA!

Lutz

RE: Importing Ventura files

2008-07-07 Thread Plueckhahn, Lutz
Thanks for your help, Jacob!

I thought Framemaker was able to import Ventura files. At least in FM7, I can
select the
file type Ventura Publisher, and when I select a chp file, FM automatically
suggest this
file type. But obviously, things are more difficult than I first thought.

Also, is Ventura 10 really able to open all older Ventura file formats? I doubt
this, but
will try. My idea was to use Ventura (whatever version), save the existing
files in a
version FM understands and then import those into FM. At least, that' what some
people
seem to have managed.

Best regards,
Lutz

Importing Ventura files

2008-07-02 Thread Plueckhahn, Lutz
Dear all,

Does anyone know how to import files created with Ventura? I have loads of
manual files
here that come from various Ventura versions (pre and post Corel). I understand
Framemaker
only imports files from versions 3 and 4? Were these before Corel?

Until now, I was only able to import one or two files which only contained
graphics links but no
links to doc files. Whenever I try to import a Ventura chp file containing a
link to a doc file, I get
an unspecified error and the import stops.

Are there any tricks or tips around?

TIA!
