RE: FrameMaker search
You can do 10 quick searches: 1in, 2in, 3in etc, and then replace by 1 in, 2 in, 3 in. I have done so on several occasions, and it doesn´t take much extra time compared to one major search. The other option would be to save as MIF, then open in Word. However, when searching in Word as you describe, can you insert the space correctly and proceed by just clicking enter or do you need to do it manually? I need to correct the measurements, in inches, in which the space has been omitted between the number and the unit. In other words: Height: 17in Depth: 21in Width: 10in Or: The unit is 17in deep. In Word, I could specify that a numerical value precedes the alpha characters in and perform a search. In FrameMaker, is there a way to make a search that specific? As it is, I believe I have to search for every instance of in, which turns up every word that contains the two letters in including, well, **including**. It's rare that I long for Word, but this is one of those instances. I can save the whole thing to RTF and do the search in Word, but I'd like to find out first if Frame has the capability. --Nancy ___ You are currently subscribed to framers as ragnar.ha...@betamed.se. Publishing in Different languages
I?ve used S-tagger from TRADOS to export the text to rtf files, where it is manually translated and then converted back to Framemaker (mif) format. RE: can a chapter in a book be set to conditional?
I have produced 2 books from one using conditional text for UK and US spelling and metric units and those parts of the text that are different. The forewords are different, and here whole pages are conditional. If you have the appendix in a different file, you could just make that whole text conditional, and in the book where the appendix is not needed, you would just be adding an extra blank page when all the conditional text is hidden (or insert a conditional picture on this page if you don't want it blank). I much prefer to have only one book, since most of the updates are needed in both language versions.
