Re: [Framers] HELP: Appendix Numbering Issue on Deadline

2023-11-19 Thread Winfried Reng
   Hi Alison,
Did you change the numbering in the book file? Or in the FM file?
You have to select the book file and in the book file select the
appendix file. Then change the numbering.
   Best regards,
   Winfried

 Frame 2020, Version: 16.0.5.1096
 Windows 10
I'm having issues with the appendices in a book. No matter what I
 do, they
keep reverting from Appendix A and Appendix B, to Appendix 8 and
 Appendix 9.
I've tried configuring Format > Document > Numbering so it matches
 exactly
with a book where the numbering works perfectly, but when I Update
 Book, the
 appendices revert to numbers.
I have to publish this book tomorrow (Monday, November 20) and I'm
 tearing
 my hair out here.
 Any suggestions?
 Alison

Re: [Framers] OT: Trouble with an Acrobat pdf file with no source

2023-03-18 Thread winfried . reng
   Hi Theresa,
That's a setting in Acrobat which the user has to set. Nothing which
you as the author can control.
The user has to activate Two Page View in the View menu in Page
   Display.
   Best regards

Everybody is always so smart here, so I thought to ask.
I have a 240 page pdf of Steam Combination Oven Cookbook for a Miele
oven. The document orginally was made by Miele, but someone unknown
inserted a reduced front+back cover as page 2 (which I have now
 removed
to the back of the book).
 Now the document prints correctly.
So the new problem is that a correct display in Acrobat in a Two
 Page
 View would be Single First Page, then a display of 2 + 3, 4 + 5,
 etc.
How do I achieve this? (Using Adobe Acobat XI Pro)
 Thanks,
 Theresa

Re: [Framers] Track Text Edit no longer in colour

2022-09-23 Thread winfried . reng
   Hi,
I think that I experienced this sometime as well. In my case it went
   away after a restart.
Do you notice this in all your files? Existing ones and new ones?
The show and hide settings of your conditions do not affect the view of
   track text edits.

   Hi Bertrand,
I have the latest version of Distiller, and it works well. Just test
it. Create a single Postscript file, make some copies and move
   everything into a watched folder.

Thanks… but I looked up “watched folders” and only found complaints
that the feature used to be in Distiller ages ago and is not available
in Acrobat. I must be looking in the wrong place or under the wrong
name. I am using Acrobat XI Pro.

   Hi Bertrand,

You have to print to Postscript files and then use a watched folder to
convert all in one go to PDF via Acrobat.

Thanks. I don’t print to Postscript, why should I? I want PDF files.

I used to print Postscript files (back in the days when everyone was
wearing a tie to work), then “distill” them to PDF (sounds like
deliciously nostalgic terminology)… Should I still do that?

   Hi Bertrand,

I do this regularly, and it works very well.

Could it be that you had not activated to print to a Postscript file?

I haven't for a long time used the "Print separate file for each
 chapter"
option for printing a book. I tried it again now but I have to wait
 for each
chapter to print and display in Acrobat, then click OK to approve
 the file
name for the next chapter (even though it's just .pdf
 in the
 chosen directory).
This is utterly crazy! For a small book it took me a good 10 minutes
 of just
waiting and clicking, but my next book is 40+ chapters! There are
 better
things to do with one's life than waiting for the computer to
 condescend to
letting you click predictable modal dialogs.
There must be a "do this for me and tell me when you are done"
 option (as I
think there was in older versions) but I didn't find it. Any help?
 Thanks,
