Captivate User Group?
Is there a group like this just for Captivate? Like so many tech writers, I am asked at times to create tutorials and training materials. I have learned so much just monitoring this list, a captivate list would be the bees knees. Regards, Barry Kieffer Technical Writer Internet, Military, and Consumer __ Jeppesen A Boeing Company
Any advantage to upgrade-FM7.2 to FM9?
I hope there is! It took a long time for me to convince my (engineering) manager to upgrade me from FrameMaker 7.2 (and RoboHelp 6) to Technical Communication Suite 2. Should have it in a few weeks. Frame Maker 9 and some questions about its indexing and page limits
The real problem with this is if you move all of your boxes and pods to the second monitor, and someone "borrows" your second monitor when you are in the rest room, when you get back you no longer have any FrameMaker 9 controls. > Finally, does anyone with FM use two screens? I am unhappy with all these > boxes and pods in FM9 and would like them all on a second screen (which I > would have to buy). I have not learnt how to dock them yet. Any hints > gratefully received. > > Rob Shell >
Technical Writing Certificate
Portland State University has a Masters in Technical Writing. ~Barry "Kelly McDaniel" Sent by: framers-bounces at lists.frameusers.com 04/08/2009 10:16 AM To , cc Subject RE: Technical Writing Certificate None of the technical writing certificates that I know about are worth the investment. To evaluate a certificate, investigate how widely it is used by those in the field, and by those hiring in the field. IMHO, the better approach is a technical writing degree, even an associate's degree has more value than a testing certificate. The problem with a tech writing degree is finding an accredited educational institution with a well-developed curriculum. I have been associated with the tech trade over 30 years and I cannot think of any...Kelly. -Original Message- From: framers-boun...@lists.frameusers.com [mailto:framers-bounces at lists.frameusers.com] On Behalf Of seawin22 at aol.com Sent: Wednesday, April 08, 2009 11:41 AM To: framers at lists.frameusers.com Subject: Technical Writing Certificate Hello Framers: Would someone please recommend a couple of online certificate programs that I can take to become a technical writer? Frame reference book
Although outdated, my pick is "The Masters Series: FrameMaker 6" by Thomas Neuburger, published by Twelfth Night Books. This book is both a teaching aid and a fine reference. Hopefully a newer edition is available. I use Frame 7 so this book is all I need. Regards, Barry Technical Writer Commercial & Military Aviation Portland, Oregon
