Re: [Framers] Can't Save As PDF or Print to Adobe PDF Printer, Windows 10 (Austin Meredith)

2018-09-14 Thread kou...@kouroo.info
Yesterday Microsoft force-fed us another update to Win10Pro, which fixed the
problem of being unable to generate with “Save as PDF” (please note that you
will need to change back to the “RGB” option).

Re: [Framers] PDF Images are Pixelated when imported into FM11

2018-03-15 Thread kou...@kouroo.info
My memory is not as good as it was when I was in my 70s, but this sounds like a
problem I had once upon a time. As I remember, the cause was that some Adobe
programmer had his copy of FM set to low-resolution because, while he was
programming, there was no need for full-resolution images. But then when he or
she put the revision out to the world, he or she failed to remove that
low-resolution setting.

My memory is that there are two places in the software in which the resolution
of an image can be lowered, one place being for the users and the other place
being reachable by the Adobe programmers, and it is the latter that controls
the former rather than the former the latter.

My memory of this is that the problem got resolved like overnight when someone
pointed out to this Adobe software engineer, that he or she had yet again
fucked up.

Re: [Framers] Font size in marker windows, in FM2017

When Adobe released FM2017, they claimed to have finally made it compatible
with high-density screens, but I noticed that their screen grabs did not
include any demonstration of this. Since I suspected that they were merely
lying again, I contacted a sales rep and promised that I would upgrade
*immediately* to FM2017, *paying whatever price*, if only they would provide
me with a screen grab that demonstrated that they were at long last telling the
truth -- that their newest release was indeed compatible with high-density
screens. When the sales rep was (predictably) nonresponsive, I presumed that
this meant that they were lying again. -- Now I see, from this thread, that
unfortunately this was an accurate assessment.

Please pardon me for anger at their disrespect of their customer base -- after
passing through every release of FrameMaker since long before Adobe acquired
it, I am 79 now, and my eyes have become my severe limiting condition.

Re: [Framers] Framers Digest, Vol 121, Issue 26

2016-04-29 Thread kou...@kouroo.info
The big difference I have noted, in moving to Win10 and FM2015, has been the
introduction of blank pages (other users have not commented on this, so perhaps
it is unique to my own files). If, however, you find yourself faced with every
other page being blank and without a frame, contact me and I'll attempt to talk
you through that.

[Framers] Win7 versus Win10 with FM2015 as of January 2016

2016-01-13 Thread kou...@kouroo.info
Dell delivered a new workstation with Win7 as I had experienced a bad Windows
OS failure. Fortunately all data is backed up but I need to upgrade to the
latest FM and Acrobat pro. Booting, they lied as the machine actually is loaded
with Win10. What to do? Would it be prudent as of January 2016 to "bite the
bullet" and load FM2015 on Win10, or would it be more prudent to demand that
Dell provide me with a Win7 CD boot disk before loading FM2015?
