I was wrong, by the way. It's not Leximation that has an LEP plugin, it's
Silicon Prairie.

Re: [Framers] FrameMaker Data in Footer

2018-05-15 Thread Alan Houser
I've set up LEPs a couple of times in unstructured FrameMaker. Getting
an auto-generated LEP is "tricky", but possible. Try setting up a Flow B
Body text frame to contain your revision and date information. These
will usually be the same across all pages (at least to start), but you
will need the ability to change these on a per-page basis. Tag each of
these with a paragraph format that you can use to build the LEP.

One trick ... because the revision and date values are (probably)
initially identical, set these in a paragraph autonumber format. That
will let you populate the initial values (relatively) easily, and
override the para format when the revision/date values change for a
particular page.

Tricky, but possible. HTH!

used markers on the body page to fill in the information. However, I would
like to use this information to run a TOC and LEP, but seem unable to when
text frames are on the master pages.

Could some one suggest a productive and efficient way to set up this type

these aviation manuals I've recently been tasked with (AMM, IPC, etc.) are
more complex than the internal procedures manuals I've been doing and
would appreciate any suggestions.

Hi Julie,

here some things to read about "How to Create a List of Effective Pages"
with FrameMaker

https://www.rockymountaintraining.com/adobe-framemaker-how-to-create-a-list-of-effective-pages/

Our company has developed a whole set of Add-Ons for a LEP -scenario to
make the workflow much faster and easier.
It is used by a European company (air traffic controller) with ~ 10
branches.

I don't really understand your requirement very well and I don't
understand what you doing now. Could you please explain it again? Also,
what's a LEP?

Why can't you just insert variables in the header/footer? Than you could
add those variables to a template, remove all other variables from the
template, edit the variables for each book and import the variables from
the template.

A LEP is a list of effective pages. I think Leximation has a plugin that
can help with that.

I'm not sure I understand the rest of it, but it sounds to me as if you
could use variables for the "TA number, page #, revision # & date",
couldn't you, and then just use the variables you need in the Running H/F
and in the text?
