[Framers] Framescript question
I have a fully licensed purchase of Framescript5_100. It was installed and registered for Framemaker 10. I updated to Framemaker 12 quite a while ago and for various reasons, I did not need to use Framescript until and of course, that's when I realized that the option that I thought I was missing is there in FM10. How can I transfer my transfer my license from FM10 to FM12? I am no longer using FM10, but need Framescript for my FM12 installation. I thought that I could download an evaluation version from the website and then update w/ the license information accordingly, but there is not an evaluation version available anymore. RE: Framescript question
Hi Callie, Both of your "Save Book..." commands work for me under Win7, FM 9.0p250, FS 5.2R1 (after I substituted a valid target location for the resulting PDF file). You might try updating FM with the latest patch and also check to see that you can use the FM interface to "Save As PDF" to that target location. One more thing to check: if Distiller hasn't been initialized on the system your using, that could cause problems. Might try just opening Distiller to ensure it's functioning. For FrameScript questions, you might have better luck over here: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/framescript-users/ HTH, Mike > From: c.berts...@tecplot.com > To: framers@lists.frameusers.com > Date: Mon, 10 May 2010 15:06:51 -0700 > Subject: Framescript question > > System: MS Vista > Software: FM 9.0p230, FrameScript 5.2R1 > > I'm working on creating a script that automates all PDF builds for all our > documentation books and I seem to have run into a snag - I can get everything > to work so far except after my script opens the files, runs checks, applies > templates etc in FrameMaker, I haven't been able to command it to save the > book as a PDF. Thanks to the people who sent me great sample scripts and links to framescript forum! FrameScript Question - Open File
Hi all, FrameMaker 8.0 on WinXP SP2, freshly registered copy of FrameScript 5.1 I've been a FrameScript user for about 3 hours now, and I'm working on a learning the language to write a batch script that will take the files given on the command line with many -a"file0.fm" and save-as XML (I then move the XML over to a Linux box and parse to generate API code). As one could imagine out of a first-timer, I'm borrowing heavily out of scripts like SampleScripts\DirSaveAsMif.fsl. Anyway, I'm opening each file to be saved-as-XML with the following code: Open Document File(pvDocFileName) Invisible FileIsOldVersion FontNotFoundInDoc(OK) OpenDocViewOnly(True) AlertUserAboutFailure(False) FontChangedMetric(OK) FontNotFoundInCatalog(OK) FontNotFoundInDoc(OK) UpdateXRefs(No) UseAutoSaveFile(No) UseRecoverFile(No) NewVar(lvDocVar); I've attempted to do away with all font-not-found and file-is-not-writable warnings to keep a batch script from popping up FM dialog boxes and waiting for user input. However, there's 2 styles of warnings that I cannot avoid: **Paragraph tag "CellBody" is not in the Paragraph Catalog. Add it? [Yes] [No].** The other warning refers to a missing Character in the Catalog, with a similar prompt. Perhaps the ultimate solution is to check out the document and fix its Paragraph and Character catalogs, but I'm hoping to make this script ride through these types of errors. FYI: These files are all edited by different people so little problems are bound to show up from time-to-time, and ultimately these warnings don't cause XML file generation to fail so I don't need to fix them immediately. Any assistance I can get would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! I have a script that moves through a book and sets the left margin of each graphic to a certain distance based on the context of the anchored frame. The basic logic is: If the preceding paragraph tag is A, set the margin to X. If it's B, set it to Y ... and so on. This part works great. I now have a book that requires individual inspection of each graphic. I need to see it to know whether to change it. The problem is that when my existing script runs, it doesn't bring each anchored frame into view in the Frame window. All I see is the first page of the document and a bunch of flickering as the graphics are changed. Is there a way to get the focus of the window to change as part of the script, so that I just click Yes or No for each frame? I'd rather not have to scroll manually to each anchored frame. Thanks for any wisdom! Framescript Question
Hi Anita, Let's say your current anchored frame object is oAFrame. You can use this to scroll it into view. Set oPgf = oAFrame.TextLoc.Object; Find TextRange(oPgf) ScrollTo; Then you can use a YesNo message box. MsgBox Mode(YesNo) Button(iButton) 'Do you want to move this frame?'; If iButton = YesButton // Branch to code to fix frame. Else // Continue loop to find next frame.
