RE: Multiple sets of page numbers...

2011-12-07 Thread Reng, Dr. Winfried
Hi Scott,

I would do it with automatic numbering. If necessary in
a separate text frame.
Restart the autonumbering of p e.g. with a separate
paragraph; this could be the title paragraph of a new part.
Continue the autonumbering for b throughout all files in
the book (or just use the page number variable).

Best regards

Winfried

Hmm .. my original post on this wasn't quite accurate. I'm not looking
for the current page and the total page count (even though that's what I
said) .. I'm looking for two sets of page numbers that change on each
page. One number is the page number relative to the start of the book,
and the other is the page number relative to the start of each part.

 First page of part1 .. p1 - b1
 Second page of part1 .. p2 - b2
 ...
 First page of part2 .. p1 - b20
 Second page of part2 .. p2 - b21
 ...
 First page of part3 .. p1 - b32
 Second page of part3 .. p2 - b33

The p number gets reset for each part, and the b number continues on
 through the whole book.

 Thanks!

I can't think of a way to do that in FM, but perhaps you could
page-number the parts in FM, make a PDF, and then page-number the book
in Acrobat?
