For a fascinating variation on a digital recorder you might also check out
Livescribe "Smart Pen", at http://www.livescribe.com

They were available on our Costco online website, and I recently noticed they
have them at my local Target, too.

They have a website with videos of the pens in use, and the Community forums
are full of "pen cast" examples.

There are a couple of other mfg of similar devices, one by IOGear

I've been using the Olympus DS-40 Digital Voice Recorder for about 4 months
now to interview SME's and record conference calls. It was the best
investment that I ever made for this type of product.

I am looking to purchase a USB Digital Voice Recorder for interviewing
SME's. So I just need good voice quality for mono voice, long battery
life, long recording time and ease of transfer to my computer. What have
been your experiences with them? Any recommendations? TIA

Thank you,

OFF-TOPIC POST Digital Voice Recorders

Hi Gillian,

You can get a voice recorder attachment for your iPod if you have one,
they're cheaper and smaller?

Lynn

OFF-TOPIC POST Digital Voice Recorders

2009-09-10 Thread Art Campbell
I've had an Olympus D2 for several years and it works great. It is a
USB device, so it's easy to move files back and forth either with
Windows or the Olympus software. Also has an external jack so you can
add a better stereo mic if you want to record music, or a shotgun mic
for picking up a distant speaker.

Before you buy, you may want to do a search for voice recognition
software packages. My Olympus was bundled by a vendor with Dragon
Naturally Speaking, and the combo has both worked very well and was
available at a discount.
