OK, so when you update the Frame file outside of Flare, Flare automatically gets the changes or do you have to import the Frame file again? RE: Online help generator using FM8
There is an auto-import function in Flare that automatically reimports the Frame files when you tell Flare to create the output. It does take awhile to convert the Frame files to MIF and then to HTML, so it's a good time to get a beverage. -=Ed. -Original Message- From: Steve Johnson [mailto:chinask...@gmail.com] Sent: Friday, April 23, 2010 11:19 AM To: Ed Cc: generic...@yahoo.ca; framers@lists.frameusers.com; Stalwarts Subject: Re: Online help generator using FM8 OK, so when you update the Frame file outside of Flare, Flare automatically gets the changes or do you have to import the Frame file again? ___ You are currently subscribed to framers as arch...@mail-archive.com. RE: Online help generator using FM8
Nadine- I personally think it's still single-sourcing, since you're compiling from the Frame source files. The output is multiple HTML files (since I create WebHelp), but I don't think that's different than any other WebHelp system. The conversion from FM to MIF to HTML is invisible; you never use or see the files unless you really want to look in the temp folder. I believe that RH works essentially the same way. -=Ed. -Original Message- From: Writer [mailto:generic...@yahoo.ca] Sent: Friday, April 23, 2010 11:34 AM To: dr_go...@pobox.com; Ed Cc: framers@lists.frameusers.com; 'Stalwarts' Subject: RE: Online help generator using FM8 Ed, conceptually, do you have two sources of content in that scenario? Last time I used Flare it did not do that. Don't remember what version. Thanks for the info. Besides Webworks Publisher, other options include Mif2Go (which we use) -- fast, powerful, highly configurable, extensively documented, and reasonably priced, but better for those with some scripting or programming experience; and Adobe RoboHelp (included with FrameMaker in Adobe's Technical Suite for Communications) -- intended for easy integration, but not as flexible as the other two.
