Hey all,Ironically we are just prolonging the agony about this - can we all agree to have different opinions about this situation and just move on? Adobe had to ask you to be a partner before you get added to/have access to the list. 2. Adobe monitored the list and didn't allow anyone to sign up unless they could be verified. Over the last week and a half, I have been flamed incessantly from trolls stating that "We found your company is related to "Partner of Adobe Computer Software," and offering to sell me a list of potential clients to bolster my business. The email address is a bogus address that changes constantly despite the exact same message being sent, and there is no other contact information such as a valid name/contact number provided. I have been simply sending these cr*p emails to the trash, but the last straw was today when I received an 8 am phone call from one of these spammers, w/ a very heavy accent and the first words out of their mouths was "We found that your company . . " Has anyone else been receiving this kind of garbage? Can Adobe me made aware of this and perhaps verify to whom they have recently given access to this list and maybe kill it that way? I don't reply to Spam email and I have a spam filter created. As I said, I posted to the list only after I actually received a phone call. And like many other ICs, I have my contact information on my website so potential clients can contact me.I am not looking to start a knuckle wrapping/flame-throwing thread. It just would seem that some spammer has gone to great lengths to harvest this information and I had the same questions as other folks who replied both on and off list about Adobe security for access to this type of info.TVB Sent from Samsung Galaxy smartphone. Re: [Framers] OT: (Kinda') Spam to Adobe Partners
Hi, Tammy: This is what happens when you reply to spam email | James Veitch ... <https://www.google.com/url?sa=t=j==s=web=1=2ahUKEwiX46LivZTkAhUKQq0KHUBiCK4QyCkwAHoECAkQBA=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D_QdPW8JrYzQ=AOvVaw084CUQc54UMyyOkTBTnT4A> IIRC, when I watched it, there were links to follow-on videos which gave me the feeling that even remedies can drag us off into unwanted territories. ;) Seriously, though, first of all, condolences to you and others who are being trolled. Yes, Adobe needs to clean up its own mailing-list and vendor-list security issues. Also, a suggestion worth mentioning: if you haven't already, create your own SPAM filter for these messages, that sends the messages to your own Trash folder, and also reports them as SPAM to your enterprise IT folks, your ISP, and if there's an Adobe abuse address, to that venue, also. Re: [Framers] OT: (Kinda') Spam to Adobe Partners
Hi Tammy, Carol et al, I get such emails practically every day as well and other people in my team, too. The thing is, once you have published your email somewhere on the web, you will automatically end up at some point on the lists of such criminals. There is hardly anything one can do except for keeping your email address secret. If those guys got your contact data from your profile on the Adobe Technical Communication Partner Portal (https://partners.adobetechcomm.com/) – might be, might be not. Or maybe from LinkedIn. Or maybe just from your own homepage: https://spectrumwritingllc.com/wordpress/partners/ where you mention your Partnership with Adobe, or https://spectrumwritingllc.com/wordpress/spectrum-writing/contact/ where you expose your email and phone number. I do not see why or how Adobe should or could "patrol" the communication between two third parties. That would be illegal anyway. Regarding the partner portal: We are currently revamping it (while I'm writing). As part of the revamp we thought a lot about how we can, on the one hand, protect the privacy of our partners, and on the other hand, make the communication between people who are interested in your services or products and you as our partner as easy as possible. One result of these discussions is that we introduce a contact form so that potential customers can write to you as a partner through that form. This will eliminate the need for you to expose your email address. However, a "bad guy" can of course also spam you with such a form (while we will further improve this to make it as hard as possible for them. > 1. Adobe had to ask you to be a partner before you get added to/have access > to the list. Everyone can "apply" to become a partner. There is an open application form for this on the partner portal. If we receive an application, we do an intensive background check first to pre-validate the applicant and then go into a one-on-one conversation with the applicant. (Exception: We know the person already personally for a longer time and asked the person to apply). Only if that went through, the company or individual will be approved as a partner. > 2. Adobe monitored the list and didn't allow anyone to sign up unless they > could be verified. That is correct. See my comment above. No one on the partner portal is "unknown" to us, and there are no "fake profiles." Re: [Framers] OT: (Kinda') Spam to Adobe Partners
I think it would be better to post this in the Adobe forum. All partners are listed at the partners page : https://partners.adobetechcomm.com/ ( currently unavailable) So everybody can find all partner addresses. I don't think that Adobe can stop that kind of spam. So I just delete that spam. Am 21.08.2019 um 17:34 schrieb tamm...@spectrumwritingllc.com: I know many of us, as am I, on this list are Adobe Partners and I was under the impression (perhaps incorrectly) that: 1. Just a stream of thought - and TIA.
