Re: FM 8 Apostrophe Problem
Thanks to everyone for the help. I had to do a repair using the disk. Once I did this, the quotes re-appeared. Something must have been corrupt. Joel On Mon, Dec 15, 2008 at 6:12 PM, Jeremy H. Also, FYI, I tried copying and pasting an apostrophe from Word into Frame using Paste Special > Text and that worked just fine. Joel On Mon, Dec 15, 2008 at 5:13 PM, Jeremy H. Re: FM 8 Apostrophe Problem
That didn't work either. My .ini file already was configured in the way that you wanted me to configure it. Is there possibly another .ini file that Frame is reading from? Is there a setting in the menus that I can tweak? Thanks, Joel On Mon, Dec 15, 2008 at 5:13 PM, Jeremy H. With Frame not running, open your maker.ini, the one in the main FrameMaker directory, in a text editor. Find the [Spelling] section, and at the end of it is SmartQuotes: SmartQuotes= which shows the actual quote characters. Change it to: SmartQuotes=\xd4\xd5\xd2\xd3 which uses their numeric codes; this is actually specified in the file, in a comment above that line that has the codes for several different languages. Save and close maker.ini, open FrameMaker, and enjoy. I had the same problem, and that solved it for me. -- Jeremy H. Re: FM 8 Apostrophe Problem
Is your default printer set to an Adobe PDF printer? It sounds as if you're using a hardware-specific font that uses a character that FM can't display. Using the fonts available to the PDF engine limits the selection to those that are actually installed on your system... Art Art Campbell art.campb...@gmail.com "...
