RE: TOC/Index unformatted

2009-12-04 Thread Ann Zdunczyk
Hi Linda,

The TOC and Index are just like any other file. FrameMaker creates tags but
they probably do not look the way you want. You need to modify the tags to
look the way that you would like them to. Also you may need to edit the
TOC/Index reference page to add tabs where they need to be.

I'm a newbie to the list and to FrameMaker. I am working on my first
document and when I Update Book, the TOC and Index are created, but they are
not formatted.

Can anyone tell me what's wrong and how to resolve it?

Your documentation team should have a formatted TOC and index template
for the doc set you're working on. Check with your teammates and
manager for their location. When you find them, open them, and open
the unformatted generated TOC and index you created. With the
unformatted TOC active, use File Import Formats and choose the TOC
template to import its formatting; do the same from the unformatted
index.

2009-12-04 Thread Art Campbell
If you don't have formatted index and TOC templates from older documents,
you can go into your templates folder and find a few starting points. If any
of them look viable, you can do File Import Formats . You'll probably
only want to grab the Master Pages (for the layout) and the paragraph tags,
which you'll then have to modify to your set.

Peter,

That did it. But now I have another problem.

I wanted registration marks and specified them everywhere I could think of, but
they aren't showing, even though I made sure Western was selected in both the
Print Book dialog and the subdialog PDF Setup for Selected Files.

Anyone have any idea what's going on?
