RE: continuing table headings

2007-05-02 Thread Ridder, Fred
And once you add the heading row, you'll need to re-type
or copy-and-paste each of your existing headings into the
cells of the new heading row before deleting the old pseudo-
heading row.

Or if you have a lot of tables to deal with, do yourself a big
favor and buy a copy of list member Rick Quatro's
TableCleaner plug-in which can do complete the body-row-
to-heading-row (or body-row-to-footing-row) conversion in
a single operation for an individual table or for all tables
of a specified table format. The plug-in also has a lot of
other features that are *really* useful if you routinely import
Word documents (or chunks of Word documents) into
FrameMaker, which is one common way that one winds
up with tables that don't have real heading rows.

No commercial connection; just a satisfied user.

If you set your table up with header rows they should automatically
repeat. If you have a table that doesn't do this, try going to Table >
Add Rows or Columns. Select To Heading in the drop down for Add 1
Row(s): and click Add.

When you insert a table, make sure you have at least one Heading Row.

Hello,
I have a table that spans multiple pages. (It is a long parts list for a
product.) How can I get the table heading to continue across the pages?
I know how to get the table title to continue across pages, but how do I
get the header row to continue?

thanks in advance for any input!

Re: continuing table headings

Kara --

Do you have the table headings set as Heading?

To make sure that your heading is really a heading, try: Table>Add Rows or
Columns>Add 1 Row(s)>To Heading. Then move the heading text to the new row.

That will add a real heading row, which should repeat on every page.

You can also use the Table Designer to ensure that you have a real heading
row.

Hope this helps,

Miriam
