Standalone FM 9 (all patched) and RH 8.02 - (xposted to three lists)

2010-02-04 Thread Spectrum Writing
All,

I do NOT have TCS2, but I am posting to several lists in hopes of findng an
answer. I have standalone FM 9 (all patched) and standalone RH 8.0.2
installed on a 64 bit Win7 system. Whenever I open RH and request to import
a FM file, I get one of the following two messages:

1.) Import error - failed to complete import. the import function grinds
and grinds and then times out with this error message.

2.) the x.fm is NOT a FM file. Make sure that it is open and is a FM file.
Uh, yea, it is and it is open, otherwise, I wouldn't be trying to import it.

I am frustrated, stymied, panicked - you name it. I am on the hook for OLH
for a client and I am at a complete loss. I can't get anywhere with RH.

Where do I start, what do I do?

Thanks!

RE: [Free Framers] Standalone FM 9 (all patched) and RH 8.02 - (xposted to three lists)

2010-02-04 Thread Spectrum Writing
I forgot to clarify - yes, I did create a new blank RH project before I
tried the import and there were no errors in my FM file. Long story short -
after rebooting, and starting FM and creating a small FM primer file with
just a few paragraphs, I imported the primer file into a blank project and
all was fine. I then was able to import one by one all of my other FM files
that I could not before. (and yes, I had rebooted and reopened FM and RH
and created a new blank RH project several times before - the only
difference was this FM primer file.)

Matt Sullivan suggested this trick to me - why it works he's not sure, but
he has seen the trick work before and it helped me. After I get the project
the way that I want it, I can delete the primer file and should be good to
go.

Thanks Matt.
