Plus, importing EPS into Framemaker generates only a gray box. I need to add callouts and other textual information, so not seeing the artwork on the page isn't an option. When you save as EPS, there should be a dialogue that lets you specify a preview. This is what FrameMaker uses to display the EPS. Note, however, that it is a low-res preview, not the full resolution image that FM will display. Mike Wickham ___ You are currently subscribed to framers as arch...@mail-archive.com. "imorting EPS into FrameMaker generate only a gray box" because you're creating an EPS without a TIF preview. Thanks for following up, Art. Here's the info: OS: Windows Vista; 32 bit FrameMaker 9 Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended (I have TCS 2.5) RAM: 4 GB I import graphics from PhotoShop and Illustrator by reference using the .PSD and .ai files; however, so far, I have only seen this happening to .PSD files I print to PDF from FrameMaker, which distills it first This thin black line is random. It does not appear on all images, and if I recreate the PDF, it will appear on different images than the first time I made the PDF. -Original Message- From: Art Campbell [mailto:art.campb...@gmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, February 01, 2011 2:57 PM To: Bethany Lee Cc: framers@lists.frameusers.com Subject: Re: thin black line on some images If you'd like to solve this, it'd be helpful to the rest of us if you'd provide the standard system info: OS, versions of Frame and Acrobat, amount of RAM, how you're importing the graphics, the graphics file format, how you're creating the PDF, and so on. I remember that thread you mentioned but I can't find it either... So what I'm remembering from the thread is that it had something to do with layers in the Photoshop file randomly appearing on the surface But I also don't remember the fix because it hadn't happened to me. What I'd try as a solution is either using an alternate format like PNG or flattening the PSD. An easy way to do this semi-automatically is with Dr. Brown's 1-2-3 script -- you can save your open PSD file in several formats and sizes in one pass. http://www.russellbrown.com/scripts.html Art Campbell ? ? ? ? ? ? ? art.campbell at gmail.com ? thin black line on some images
Is there an actual fix for this? I often get these with AI formatted files, and my past searches indicated that it was an old bug that wasn't going to be squashed. I adjusted my workflow (at least with line art) to include Photoshop for cropping and converting to something like PNG. If there's a way to save a couple of steps, I'm all ear...um...eyes. Re: thin black line on some images
If you'd like to solve this, it'd be helpful to the rest of us if you'd provide the standard system info: OS, versions of Frame and Acrobat, amount of RAM, how you're importing the graphics, the graphics file format, how you're creating the PDF, and so on. thin black line on some images
I have seen this thread somewhere and searched the archives but couldn't find it: I am using FM 9 (all patches installed), and when I print to PDF, some images appear with a thin black line on the right side. I had this once before, and fixed it (so I know there's a simple solution), but my IT guy did something to my computer and now they are back. Does anybody remember the solution to this?
