+1. :-)

The board wants to support your self-organizing in any way that is
within our power; we don't want to dictate the terms of that
self-organizing.

The board isn't involved in any matters concerning the way we develop
Plone - this is up to the active development community.

The framework team members have so far been selected by the framework
team alumni. So either we continue to use that group to select new
members and change the team size, or we just open it up to a general
vote on the plone-developers list.

Personally I think sticking to the old group and involving the current
members should work fine. That way the current team can choose people
they can work with, but we also have some alumni people to make sure
the team isn't self-selecting itself to favor one particular direction
for Plone.

For the major, not fully backwards compatible Plone 5 release, we can
select a new team using the alumni group.

#10886: plone.app.event - new eventtype for plone
+---
 Reporter: thet| Owner: thet
 Type: PLIP| Status: new
 Priority: minor | Milestone: 4.2
Component: Infrastructure |Keywords: event, recurring, date
+---

Comment(by thet):

 status update:

vincent fretin, rok garbas and johannes raggam attended at the artsprint
 [1] in
vienna in the first week of february 2011 and made some good
 progress:

 - fixed many bugs, mentioned in the plip reviews
 - optimized archetypes.datetimewidget behavior
 - discussed some plans, how to further improve the package and code
 structure
 - partly migrated the test infrastructure to plone.(app.)testing
 - solved the timezone troubles with Zope's DateTime (by using pytz and
introducing a timezone field for the event object and storing DateTimes
 in UTC only...)
 - prepared some javascript testing stuff to be used for
 js.jquery.recurrenceinput recurrence widget.

there are still some things to be done - see the current todo list [2].

Comment(by jaroel):

 I'm still around :)

Most issues should take more then an hour to fix, but there are a bunch of
 them :/
Sadly I do not have a lot of time, so if someone wants to help out, they
 are more than welcome.

At least p.a.collection is usable, the 'Duplicate profile ID' errors are
gone and some more work is done.

How to do an initial PLIP review

I'm not even sure where to start here. Ideas?

- is it formatted correctly
- what dependencies would it introduce
- what backwards compatibility impacts will it have
(different for minor vs major versions)
- does this belong in plone core
- do the deliverables include tests

Just as important, if not more important:

- what existing documentation should be updated
- what new documentation should be written
- have the UI aspects been checked by a UI expert
