Isn't that really something completely different than mass uploading?
Separate plip?

Absolutely. Getting the code into the Foundation's long-term

I've not been through the process before of moving Collective code to
the Foundation, but I know Jarn has done this, so perhaps Geir can
enlighten us there on whether any additional steps are required other
than making sure all contributors have signed the Contributor
Agreement.

I don't know of any special considerations beyond the normal ones.
- Code must meet Plone's quality assurance level. (i.e pass PLIP review)
- All contributors must have signed the agreement.
- Some sort of consensus that the code is of general use to Plone and
the community, and that the community is the best entity to manage
maintenance long term.

- Licensing

Makes sense to me to move it to the Plone repository in preparation of
PLIP review — as long as licenses match and all contributors are clear.

[Framework-Team] Re: Combining Search Results PLIPs

2009-07-02 Thread Geir Bækholt · Jarn
I am on my way to vacation with my family, and cannot do anything
until Monday at the earliest.
I have discussed the search results improvements with Laurens before
he submitted his, and the two plips are accidental. They are 95% the
same plip. I'll coordinate and make sure there will not be 2
implementations. - but if the plips have to be merged before Monday,
someone else needs to do it. (feel free). Sorry abut the delay.

Hello Geir and Laurens:

Both of your search results PLIPs (9271, 9282) were approved by the
Framework Team for inclusion in Plone 4.0. However, all voters
expressed a strong preference that the two PLIPs and the effort to
implement them be merged. It would not be acceptable to have two
competing implementations of the same feature(s) submitted for code
review. It is essential that you open a discussion and work together
to merge your efforts. Please keep the Framework Team apprised of the
results of your discussion by re-submitting a single combined PLIP
ASAP.

Thank you,
Alec Mitchell

The PLIP also mentions a better RSS portlet. I won't be able to do

volunteers?

Feedmixer is a better RSS portlet, and should cover most usecases. It
aggregates multiple feeds to one (and includes a more… listing.) ,
but you can easily cover the simple usecase of a single feed as well.

- but i also think Wichert has fixed the default RSS portlet so it
actually works now. I don't have much of an opinion on which is better
for default Plone. I guess this may come down to dependency on third
party libraries?
