[Frameworks] 16mm Animation Stand available in San Diego

2013-06-13 Thread j...@kinetta.com
A friend in San Diego tell me there's a 16mm animation stand with an Acme 6
camera available probably very cheaply at a university surplus sale.

If you are interested, email me and I will forward it to my friend.

Re: [Frameworks] 16mm Animation Stand available in San Diego

2013-06-13 Thread j...@kinetta.com
More details:

The stand is an SOS single column with a beefy compound, upper and lower acme
pegs and a rotating light box. I modified the stand and camera with follow
focus in the early 1980's and it works well. The motor is an Acme 120 volt with
single frame, 3 frame and continuous forward and reverse. Around 10 feet tall.
There should be a picture on the surplus web site in a week or two.

Email sgeo...@ucsd.edu if you want more information.

Good luck. It would be a shame if this went for scrap metal.

Re: [Frameworks] Oxberry Master Series Animation Stand 16/35mm

2013-06-13 Thread Eric Theise
Jeff's mention of the animation stand coming available in San Diego
made me go looking for this thread from back in February. Did this
stand get saved, did it actually make the trip from Halifax to the SF
Bay Area?

 Thanks very much!

[Frameworks] Paris: Fischinger Raumlichtkunst opening June 20

2013-06-13 Thread C Keefer
For anyone near Paris in the next 3 months - or especially next week:Oskar Fischinger: Raumlichtkunst opens next Thursday, June 20 at Palais de Tokyo, Paris. It's part of an exhibition called La Fin de la Nuit, which runs to September 9, 2013. Raumlichtkunst, c. 1926/2012, is
Center for Visual Music's new HD 3-screen installation, a reconstruction of
Fischinger's 1920s multiple projector performances, using newly
preserved film from his nitrate originals. At this venue, the projection is 30 feet wide (total, 10 feet each). The HD reconstruction uses digitally restored color, and includes some of his wax experiments and spirals footage, among many other animation experiments and early tests.Multiple exhibitions open that same night in the centre's Nouvelles Vague series, so if you plan to attend the opening, go to La Fin de la Nuit section, to our black box room. You'll see the wall text for Raumlichtkunst at the top of the hallway leading down to the entrance - past the projection of Eau d'Artifice. The public opening is at 8 pm, anyone can attend. The exhibition opens the next day for the public during regular hours (often until midnight). Side note, for those interested, Kenneth Anger will be at the opening, as 2 of his films are in this exhibition (also Puce Moment). For more about Raumlichtkunst:www.centerforvisualmusic.org/Raumlichtkunst.htmlFor more about Oskar Fischinger:www.centerforvisualmusic.org/FischingerRaumlichtkunst has previously been exhibited at Tate Modern, London and the Whitney Museum, New York. One can see it in Paris until September 9, 2013. Thanks to the NFPF and Film Foundation's Avant Garde Masters program for support for the film restoration portion of this project. Thanks also to the Whitney Museum, Fischinger Trust and Goethe Institut, Paris, among many others.best regards,Cindy KeeferCenter for Visual MusicLos AngelesCVM email = cvmaccess at gmail dot comwww.centerforvisualmusic.org

Sorry if my email wasn't clear. I never thought this was the same
stand. I just remembered the earlier thread and was wondering what
became of the Atlantic Filmmakers Coop's Oxberry,
