Mike Leggett films are especially fascinating – perhaps the most articulate
exploration of the sound/image relationship out of all his films is VISTASOUND.

Hello,

I'm studying the relationships between sound and structural film / materialist
/ new formal film from the sixties and seventies,
and i would like to receive some inputs about this issue (films, filmmakers,
books, writers, articles, websites, exhibitions, etc).

I have found a website with some articles about this theme:
http://www.see-this-sound.at/en/

and also a workshop by Allen S. Weiss named "Sound and Image in Experimental
Cinema" as well as his books.

Do you have any suggestions about international filmmakers or films that could
be related to this issue,
besides Peter Kubelka, Paul Sharits, Michael Snow, Tony Conrad, Malcolm Le
Grice and Guy Sherwin films?

Thanks in advance,

Albert Alcoz

I would suggest that sound is an under-discussed matter in Hollis Frampton's
films, most notably 'Critical Mass.'

The sound/image relationships in Bruce Conner's 'Report' might also be worth
consideration.

Hi Albert

This relates to my area of interest and I'd be happy to answer more specific
questions. Can you say a bit more about your study?

I have a chapter 'THUNDER & LIGHTNING Noise: Aesthetics and Audio-visual
Avant-garde Practice' in (eds.) Goddard. M, Halligan, B. Hegarty, P.
'Reverberations: The Philosophy, Aesthetics and Politics of Noise' 2012
(Continuum), that may be relevant to you.

Best Wishes
