Re: [Frameworks] eyemo lens adapter

2014-03-08 Thread todd eacrett

Technically it's possible -- Eyemo flange to focal distance is 1.5" and Nikon
is 46.5mm -- but it would have to slide internally into the Eyemo mount, and
most
Nikon lenses have a shroud around the rear element (and preset levers) that
will get in the way.

An aside: when Nikon introduced their SLR system, they made the
FFD longer than competitors' so buyers couldn't use other lenses on Nikons, but
they could use Nikkors on any other camera. Brilliant engineering/marketing.

Jeff's suggestion of a Nikon extension tube for a mount works well. I had a
machinist turn a sleeve to fit into the tube and over the Eyemo mount (which was
ground down in length and turned smooth on the exterior surface, removing the
locking knob ridge). The new "mount" friction-fits over the old one and is
secured with three grub screws so focus can be fine-tuned.

and get Ken Stone (http://www.stonecinemaengineering.com/services.html) to

2014-03-08 Thread Roger Wilson
I think when using Dektol developer the following would be the proper times and
procedures for processing Tri X as a reversal. As mentioned I use D19 developer
myself and my times are different so run tests first.
Developer 7 minuteswash 1 minutebleach 4 minuteswash 1 minuteClear bath 30

I've started to mix a lot of my own chemicals to make developer, etc and its
not hard to do but just be sure to be cautious because you are using chemicals
that can be rather toxic. I believe the following is the basic chemistry to
making your own bleach. Can someone on Frameworks confirm this?
Note: mix the potassium with the water and then add the sulfuric acid to the
mixture. You should be careful not to add the water/potassium mixture to the
sulfuric acid but the other way around. Use gloves and eye wear protection!1

Here's a relatively old projector spec and already it specifies that h264
compression in an .mov or .mp4 container are supported. That's close to
optimal except maybe in Linux; you might give those profiles a shot.

much appreciated.

In the past, I had a hard time determining which projectors would accept
which thumbdrives, and which files... I want three fairly short loops to
play continuously. But some thumbdrives work, some FILES work (and more
importantly, some don't) and I ended up chasing my tail. At present I'm
just using DVD players.

I'm remembering now: I had to convert my short loops to MPEG1 in order for
the projector to read them, but when I did so the compression was awful, so
better from a DVD

all best,

[Frameworks] the unknown story of Miss Lonelyheart from Rear Window / footnote to Bordwell

2014-03-08 Thread Péter Lichter
There is a forgotten story inside in a famous crime story of Hitchcock's
Rear Window.

If you like Hitchcock's movies,
check out:

This is a study of filmic narration for my students and a footnote to
Bordwell

Thanks
