[Frameworks] Derivés and City Symphonies
Framworkers, I'm seeking suggestions for film based derivés, shot on 16mm or 8/s8mm. If you have an outstanding example of a video derivé to share, please feel welcome to do so. Anything in the vein of Tomonari Nishikawa's Market Street is ideal, but if you are particularly keen on a representational piece that does something interesting viz. the derivé, don't hold back. kv___ FrameWorks mailing list FrameWorks@jonasmekasfilms.com https://mailman-mail5.webfaction.com/listinfo/frameworks

Amie Siegel's *Winter* deals with a number of these topics: http://amiesiegel.net/project/winter *Winter* 2013, S-16mm transferred to High Definition 33 minutes, color/sound, performance, objects Winter is a film installation of multiple tenses—shot in the recent past, depicting an unknown future, unfolding (and changing) in the present of the exhibition. Shot in the white-washed homes of New Zealand architect Ian Athfield, including his own communal compound high above Wellington harbor, the film suggests various temporal and cultural conditions of instability, hinting at concerns of global warming and nuclear accidents, pushing at the boundaries of science fiction, stripped of narrative explication and causal explanation. Re: [Frameworks] Films on nuclear energy, The Cold War, utopia
Couple of recent suggestions: Su Rynard's "As Soon as Weather Will Permit," on her uncle's role in the Hiroshima bombing. Daniel McIntyre's "Lion" series, seven short films about Chernobyl and radiation. Hope Tucker's "Handful of Dust," uses cyanotypes processed in the sand downwind from atomic test sites in Utah, printed from negs of a 1950s western shot in the same location. Re: [Frameworks] VS motor for Arriflex S camera
I have a box marked "Arri No. 1161 motor, marked "8V governor speed controlled motor 24 fps" but the motor inside is stamped 7550 and appears to have a variable resistor marked from 1 to 8. Does it work? I have no idea. Is it for the S? I don't know, I'm not even sure it's not for a 35mm Arri.
