Hello all,

Does anyone know whether a 16mm print of *Debt Begins at 20* (Stephanie

Any leads would be appreciated.

Jeff,

This sounds great, especially the part about not needing a negative. I'll
talk to them!

Re: [Frameworks] film recorder

2019-04-13 Thread Roger Carr
Jon,

We probably have around 10 minutes, max. We are still in the early
stages. We have a dozen animators lined up to provide content, which we
need to check out. And we need to check on process costs, etc. But if we
could
use the camera, even for an afternoon, sometime in a couple of months, that
would be fantastic. Would you kindly send me your phone number, so we can
discuss? I'm at 510-735-5407.

Re: [Frameworks] film recorder

2019-04-13 Thread Jeff Kreines
Years ago I used to make 35mm film recorders using 4K LCDs and Mitchell
cameras. You really want to use a camera that can shoot single frames at longer
exposures (not an Arri unless you have an animation motor and capping shutter)
unless you are using a fast stock. You need a way to trigger the frame advance
of the computer to the camera trigger. You can get excellent results. But
with all the testing and hassles required this only makes sense if you have a
lot of footage. Otherwise it will be cheaper and better to use a lab like
Colorlab.

The most affordable way to take digital files directly to a (2K) 35mm print is
to use a Cinevator. Since you don’t need a negative, you save a lot. Colorlab
has one and I believe the cost is around $.50 per 35mm foot with analog sound.
(If you want Dolby Digital there is a Dolby royalty that’s quite high.) They
also have a 4K Arrilaser if you want a 35mm negative, and their own 16mm 5K
film recorder if you want 16mm.

Colorlab is in Rockville, MD. Very friendly to experimental filmmakers.

If you had access to 35mm camera , you could shoot it right of a flat screen
monitor your self. I have done this .. and it looks pretty good. No role lines

good luck

[Frameworks] film recorder

2019-04-13 Thread Roger Carr
Folks,

I'm looking for a film recorder to make a few minutes of 35 mm film from
digital animations. I'd love to rent one, even buy one, or find someone
who would do the recording on their recorder for $$. Any leads gratefully
appreciate!

Thanks,

Roger

Re: [Frameworks] Combilabor CMB info?

2019-04-13 Thread luis ?
Dear Christopher...

we have a Combilabor processor machine/s ( both machines for neg and
reversal b/w) in Crater-Lab. Also a Geyer contact printer like yours...I
could send you the original manuals and circuits of Combilabor. Also we did
a modification in the original heater and we can up to 38º or 41 with a
digital thermostat to process Color Pos. Let me know if you need any extra
information. No extra magazine , sorry!

All the best
Luis

According to the 1998 Photo-Lab-Index on my desk, those were distributed in
the US by HP Marketing, Pinebrook, NJ. No info on Europe but you
could try HP at +1 973-808-9010 and see if there is anyone left that knows it.

[Frameworks] Combilabor CMB info?

2019-04-13 Thread Chris G
Frameworkers,

Does anyone have any info about this little processor? Specifically the CMB A2.
We have one at Analogfilmwerke but no manual, plans or experience with this
thing. We also don’t have a magazine for it, if anyone happens to have an
extra... seems like a nice little machine for doing smaller runs of B&W
negative.

Thanks!
