[Frameworks] transformers and brightness

2014-05-14 Thread Alex MacKenzie
Thanks for the comprehensive list Alain.
This barrel is on a kodak pageant, and so yeah, not such a fast lens at f1.6
and impossible to find anything slower, especially given the skinniness of that
barrel. I don’t think I will go so far as to machine it out. I was really
looking for an easy way to increase the actual bulb brightness by upping it to
300/350W from 250W, say, without doing damage. I will look into the rheostat
idea.

And thanks David for an incredible response to the transformer query, very
helpful. I will contact you off list.

Alex

[Frameworks] increasing bulb brightness 16mm

2014-05-08 Thread Alex MacKenzie
Does anyone have any expertise/experience around increasing bulb wattage over
and above that recommended by projector manufacturer?
I want to brighten a 24V/250W 16mm bulb setup, but I obviously don’t want any
electrical fires or overheating internally. Is there a breathing area where
little if anything would need to be changed internally that is safe? (And no, I
don’t want any water-cooled, heat-sinked LED setup, already researched that and
it is a bad idea on many fronts.)
Thanks.

[Frameworks] transformer question

2013-01-25 Thread Alex MacKenzie
I am taking two 16mm analytic projectors to the UK from North America, and
require power transformers.
Each projector is marked as 120V 400W 60 Cycle. They are analytic projectors
and I am pulsing the image (ie I am not looking for steady 24fps),
Can I use standard transformers that convert 120V/230V 60Hz/50Hz? Or do I need
to worry about the Cycles? It seems most places have transformers, but they
might not be able to accomodate the 50 vs 60 aspect. If you have any
suggestions, it would be appreciated, thanks!
