Re: [Frameworks] Derivés and City Symphonies

2015-04-01 Thread konstantinos-antonios goutos
it is video,

the sound and the length of the shootings are the original,

no moment of the shooting was removed by cutting,

the sequence of the scenes is the same as the shooting was, without any cut
or use of effects,

comments, archive material or music was not used...
but i am not sure if one can call
dérive or stroling

a walk through a place like auschwitz...

P.S. Having made this mistake myself, the correct spelling is dérive, not
 derivé, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D%C3%A9rive

  Hollis Frampton's Surface Tension

Wolf Vostell's Notstandbordstein sort of flips the derive - it turns
the streets themselves into a screen - but the images are projected outside
of a car, so it may not be appropriate. Youngblood talks about it in
 Expanded Cinema and there's a copy I believe at Filmmaker's Co-op.

   Framworkers,

I'm seeking suggestions for film based derivés, shot on 16mm or
8/s8mm. If you have an outstanding example of a video derivé to share,
please feel welcome to do so. Anything in the vein of Tomonari
 Nishikawa's *Market
Street* is ideal, but if you are particularly keen on a
representational piece that does something interesting viz. the derivé,
 don't hold back.

 Hello all,

Here is something I've been thinking about lately: films/videos that show
the action of someone painting. For my project, I'm not really interested
in docs about painters discussing their work and their philosophies, but
rather films or documentation of artists in the act of putting paint to
canvas, no matter how unconventional or abstract. Some mixture of
discussion and activity is fine, but the emphasis should be on the action.

I'm thinking about things like the film documentation of Yves Klein's
Anthropometries painting-performances or John Baldessari's Six Colorful
 Inside Jobs, for example.

Thanks in advance for any help!
