Re: [Frameworks] processing strips of film

2018-07-11 Thread Scott Dorsey
You don't even need a darkroom to process 3-foot lengths, just a changing
bag and a stainless reel. I did it for years in hotel bathrooms, the
required resources are pretty minimal. If you're using a slow print film
(which you probably are for rayographs) you can get away with murder.

Cine labs won't do short lengths of film, but a still film lab will. Still,
it's a lot cheaper to do at home and having instant turnaround is a big
advantage.

If the reason that you can't hand-process is that you have a contact allergy
to hydroquinone, try the Kodak Xtol developer which won't make you break out.

[Frameworks] processing strips of film

2018-07-11 Thread Jonathan Walley
Hello fellow Frameworkers,

Process(ing) related question here: I have been working with ray-o-graphing
16mm film, and I’d like to be able to work with short bits rather than an
entire daylight spool’s worth at a time. My question is whether or not any labs
will process film in this way - say, 30 or more 1-2-foot lengths of film. I
kind of doubt it, but figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask.

I am not able to hand process, BTW. I know a lot of filmmakers who process
their own stuff work with very short lengths of film. SO, perhaps that’s
another question: if labs won’t help me, is there anyone on this list who would
be willing to do it? (I would pay you for your work).

Feel free to contact me on or off list. Thanks in advance for any ideas,
suggestions, offers.

Best wishes,
Jonathan
